More About Camp
Make intriguing new discoveries of Alabama’s rich history that lies buried in archaeological remains at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park. Work side-by-side with scientists on an actual field research project sponsored by the University of Alabama and Tannehill Iron and Steel Museum at the Alabama Museum of Natural History Museum Expedition 29: Archaeology Camp.
Who can participate? The Expedition is designed for high school students and teachers, but is open to anyone interested in archaeology, history or natural sciences. Educators and scientists provide leadership and supervision for approximately 25 camp members each week. No experience is necessary. Participants must be age 14 or older, unless accompanied by an adult.
Cost: Program tuition is $200 for a mini-week or $400 for a full week ($350 for Museum members). Accommodations, food, and scientific equipment will be provided – a detailed list of what to bring is included in the registration packet.
