New Orleans School of GlassWorks is in its 20th year of offering a one of a kind, young adult summer workshop from June – August 2010. The workshop will be available for students ages 10 to 17. Young adults will gain the experience of hands-on creativity and instruction in glassblowing, scientific torch working, stained glass, mosaics, and fused & slumped glass. This is complimented by the metal sculpture, photography on glass, paper engineering, book arts, and printmaking studios. The staff and faculty have been rewarded with the students’ abilities in design, therefore mastering a multitude of challenging technical creations in the glass, metal, or print departments not offered in their schools. In the fall, the students have the opportunity to continue with the faculty on weekends and holidays. Examples of the designs created by the master faculty teachers in the glass, metal, and print studios are exhibited in the front room gallery, New Orleans ArtWorks Gallery. Visitors are invited to see the FREE daily demonstrations, Monday – Friday. The summer workshops are limited to 25 students each week, with a 1 to 6 teacher/student ratio in each open, spacious working studio.
