More About Camp
Project Hawai'i is truly a once in a lifetime experience and is tax deductible. Our summer camp is 3 fold. 1. Community Service Learning with homeless children. 2. Hawaiian Adventures and Island Hopping. 3. Cultural Learning.
We offer the teens a truly unique opportunity to work along side homeless children helping to guide them through the planned curriculum. Our camp is set up to give teens the opportunity to make a difference in their own life as well as their camp buddies. Teens will help to build healthier life skills and self-esteem in their camp buddy while building their own leadership and mentoring skills. They have the opportunity to earn 200 hours of community service and recommendation letters while making a huge impact in both their lives and their camp buddies. We offer a 7 day Adventures Abound Day Camp and an Edu-Camp Sleepover Camp session at a nature reserve retreat. "Making Foot Prints in the Hawaiian Sands Worth Following" is not just our motto, but our way of life.
Our program is run 100% by volunteers to help change the world of poverty.
Our teen adventures include learning to surf the waves with pipeline champions, hiking the volcano and exploring the lava tubes. Waterfall climbing and rope swing jumping are just a few of our outdoor adventures. High from the tree tops of the tropical jungle down the zip line to the ocean is a sight all it's own. Teens will explore the black sand beaches, the tiki torch lite white sand beaches of Waikiki and all those in between. Teens are taken on tours of the Sacred lands of Waipio Valley, (not open to tourists). Teens will learn about the native Hawaiian plants, history and visit these sacred beaches. Learning the chant of the land is a very special treat and can only be taught to those who are invited. Teens will swim with dolphins on a private tour and snorkel with the fish in Kona. Ending the tour with a Teen Dance Night to a live band at the resort.
The Cultural Lessons are not like in a classroom, rather we experience it all first hand from native Hawaiians with generational traditions to share. Teens will learn the art of Hula and make their own Hula skirts. Learn to play ukulele and pound poi, wrap lau lau and chant at the sacred lands. Teens will actually perform an authentic lu'au for their camp buddies graduation.
And all this is Tax Deductible! Nothing like a vacation on "uncle sams" dime...Your tuition costs not only pays for your actual cost, but also sponsors your homeless child's summer camp experience and supplies.
