Ishiki Journalism Workshops is for aspiring young writers, focusing on practical hands on experience, taking the student from story research to interviewing a subject in person with a full camera crew, to writing the article piece. Photo journalism is also taught using digital mediums where students learn to accompany the piece with the correct photo to tell the story. Programs used are Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, teaching advanced photo editing and forms of layout. Students learn the practice of journalism in its most professional manner, and most importantly sharpen and improve their writing and story telling skills. Uniquely the course includes pottery in which the student is encouraged to create a written ceramic scroll or vessel made on our pottery wheel. The students finished piece will be published online and printed in full colour page to frame and give back to the subject interviewed for display.
