Join us for South Florida Science Museum summer camp 2013 as it promises to be the best yet with the grand opening of our new Museum! Your camper will get to explore a sparkling new aquarium while interacting with brand new exhibits. Each exciting week of camp will offer hands-on exploration for young scientists ages 4 to 12 on specific topics in science. The days are packed with fun science lessons, laboratories, crafts, and outside activities led by our expert Science Educators.
Camp starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. with extended hours of structured activities available from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
June 10 – 14
Claws, Paws & Jaws – Are you ready to tear into summer? Explore the world of animals on land and sea. Learn about how and why animals eat, hide, travel, climb, and a whole lot more! Identify jaws of different sharks, paw prints from different mammals, and claws from crustaceans. Make and take home your own claw and shark tooth necklaces!
June 17 - 21
Out of this World! – Prepare to blast off as we explore outer space - stars, sun, moon and the planets. You will become an expert astronomer learning the constellations, launching model rockets and learning about distant worlds, robotic rovers, and telescopes.
June 24 - 28
Build It, Launch It, Thrill It - Creativity is the key for this exciting week of camp. Use your brain to engineer creative solutions to our daily challenges and then bring your ideas to life as you build these crazy contraptions. Challenges include egg drops, rocket launches and more!
July 1 – 5*
Potions 101 –Do you like to mix things up? Put your safety goggles on and get ready for a week full of fizzy fun! Make slippery slime, create foggy dry ice storms, erupt sudsy soda bottles and much more! We hope you don't mind getting messy... this camp has it all!
July 8 – 12
H2Ocean – Take a closer look at sea life in our own backyard. During this exciting week, you will become a Junior Marine Biologist learning all about the ocean, marine animals and how they survive. Participate in ocean animal dissections, examine live ocean animals and pet a live stingray.
July 15 - 19
Food Frenzy -It's time to play with your food and enjoy a week of science that's never tasted so good! Experience the kitchen chemistry behind your favorite foods and candies. Learn how to make a solar oven, ice cream without a freezer and more! Bring your appetite for a fun-filled week of food!
July 22 – 26
T-Rex Trek –Dress up like a caveman and go on a dinosaur egg hunt. Use fossils to get up close and personal with dinosaurs and learn more about what our planet was like when they were alive by making an erupting volcano. Make dinosaur prints, your own Tyrannosaurus Rex tooth casting and hatch your very own dinosaur egg!
July 29 – Aug 2
Superhero Science -It's a bird; it's a plane, its Superhero week at the South Florida Science Museum. Superheroes may just be from the movies and comics but there is science behind superpowers. Learn how magnetism, electricity, genetics, and even chemistry relate to superhero superpowers.
Aug 5 – 9
Blast off – 3...2...1...Blast Off! Become an astronaut this week and learn what it's like to live on the International Space Station. Learn how to moon walk, build your own telescope, create lunar explosions, and participate in lunar crater experiments.
Aug 12 – 16
Science Stew – This week highlights the most amazing experiments of summer camp! Don't miss out on the coolest science experiments and labs the museum has to offer. If you are a young scientist, you will love our science adventure mix of experiments, labs, dissections, activities and crafts.

• Camps are grouped into four groups, ages 4-5, 6-7, 8-9 and 10-12.
• Before and aftercare available from 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., and 4:00 p.m. to 5:30p.m. for an additional $35 per week.
•Registration fee is waived with registration prior to May 1st. Tuition must be paid in full one week before the camp session begins.
• We require a separate, $25 non-refundable deposit for each week of camp in which you enroll your child.
• Complete one registration form per child and return it as soon as possible with the appropriate deposits and fees. After registration is received you will be sent a confirmation stating the session(s) scheduled and any balance due.
• Book 9 weeks and get the tenth week free!
• Subway box lunches will be available for purchase for a discount on the Monday morning of each camp week.
