More About Camp
Day campers arrive at 8:45 a.m., Monday through Friday, in time to join the resident campers in morning workshops. Campers enroll in three different workshops organized by age and skill level. Small class sizes foster a supportive learning environment and individual attention.
Stevenson's Summer Camp workshops are educational and complement areas of study during the school year. No homework is given and classes maintain a relaxed but focused atmosphere. Campers are held accountable for their own involvement and, although no actual grades are given, reports of accomplishment are mailed to each family at the end of each camp session.
Afternoons are divided into two periods. The first period features instructional sports clinics. Campers select two clinics to attend on alternating days. The clinics concentrate on fundamentals and help campers become more proficient in the sports they enjoy. The second period is devoted to intramural athletic competition, which stresses teamwork and participation.
Stevenson's athletic facilities are modern and extensive. The campus has two playing fields, eight tennis courts, a swimming pool, gymnasium, ropes course and an all-weather track. The campus is adjacent to several fine golf courses and a short distance from the school's kayaks.
On weekends, resident campers go on overnight hiking trips in the nearby Los Padres Forest. The weekend hikes introduce campers to backpacking and outdoor living, and also help young people appreciate nature and the beauty of the Central Coast wilderness.
The camp session is five weeks long, beginning June 24th and continuing through July 27th. Transportation for day campers can be provided.
