More About Camp
Learn the traditional Japanese martial art Aikido in a safe and supportive atmosphere. Two weeks of camp offered: August 10-14 (ages 5-12) includes instruction in the Art of Falling; partner techniques, including projections and immobilizations; building awareness, focus and confidence; classes in Japanese arts and crafts; field trip to the Japanese gardens or museum. August 17-21 (ages 8-15) teaches how to hold and use Aikido sword (bokken) and staff (jo), including take-aways and partner practice. Field trip to Malibu beach. 9 am -3pm Monday-Friday. Before and aftercare available. Aikido is a non-violent, non-competitive martial art known as the Art of Peace, emphasizing body movement, position and timing to get out of the way of an attack, and to defend oneself without harming an aggressor.
