Summary of Classes
Creative & Character Movement
We will begin each day with light movements and creative imaginary to strengthen the body and mind. This class is designed to enhance the student's physical presence both on and off stage. The fundamentals of Yoga, Tai Chi and Feldenkrais movement will offer a greater awareness of emotional, mental and physical balance. We will learn how to integrate these practices into Creative Character Movement and Stage Combat.
Theatre
This class will prepare each student to perform a Mini-theatrical production at the end of the summer program. We will develop the characters in class, but the student will be expected to memorize the script and role given to them in there own time. Theater terminology, voice quality and blocking will be explored and practiced.
Voice
Students will be introduced to the basic components behind proper vocal technique. Using a variety of exercises, they will begin exploring their own musicality and rhythm. Emphasis will be placed on ear training and breath support. More advanced concepts such as harmony are added as students work on specific songs.
Film
This class will explore what it takes to make it in "the business" and the unique acting style of film. Each student will be given a script and will be directed for a commercial and scene performed on camera. Each performance will be reviewed and work-shopped in class to enhance the learning process. Voiceover training for any media will also be taught. Script analysis, film blocking and auditioning techniques are all major components this class.
Dance
The fundamentals of Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop and Ballroom will reenergize the afternoon. This class will build endurance, coordination, and flexibility in an invigorating and creative class room setting. All levels of experience will benefit from this class.
Production
This class is an intense overview of what it takes to produce your own show. You will learn how to create a theatrical production from script to stage. We will learn how to write a script, cast a show, design costumes, make-up and stage set, along with directing the actors. *Advanced students are encouraged to attend the fall Production class to complete and produce their own play.
