Horse Camping Open May thru October ~ Reservations Required Thunderbird Ranch is located 70 miles north of San Francisco in the heart of Sonoma County Wine Country, an easy drive to 23 parks with riding trails. The ranch established in 1962, is surrounded by the lush green vineyards and picturesque rolling hills of Alexander Valley. Campsites are shaded by majestic old Oaks, with picnic tables, trash receptacles, and water stand pipes to accommodate your needs. A centrally located bath house (The County Seat) affords restrooms with hot showers and flush toilets. The large modern swimming pool with expansive adjoining lawn area provides a perfect place to relax after a long ride. Horse amenities include 6 pipe paddocks and 2 pastures with water, a large outdoor arena and a round pen. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash at all times. Thunderbird Ranch with its working ghost town, general store, blacksmith shop, covered wagons, train depot, complete with authentic vintage railroad cars is truly a unique place to stay with your horse. All prices include camping, swimming, parking, and use of designated sport areas. Volleyball, horseshoe pit, ping pong, and children's playground. There is a campfire area and deck with a BBQ and electricity for large groups. Campfire wood is available for purchase.
