For Robotics camps we will use the LEGO Mindstorms Robotic kits using the NXT. We will have over 500 robots for the campers to choose from to build. The campers will work in groups of three. Everyone will start with the “easy robots” then based on, their groups abilities’ and pace, will depend on how many robots they build in the week and how quickly they progress to the “intermediate robots” then “Advanced robots” and finally “Expert robots”. We have a book that is color coded with the photos of the finished robots for each category that they choose from. Programing is available, but your child must bring their own laptop to do this.
For the Advanced Robotics Camp, a laptop is required for each team, you can let me know on the registration you will be sharing a computer with another camper you know; and all parents agree prior to camp; (max 3 to a laptop). We will be using a First Lego League setup. This is a theme-based camp that guides students through LEGO MINDSTORMS building and programming in a structured way. There are training activities that guide the campers from simple to more advanced programming. Campers are challenged to apply their programming and problem-solving skills by making their robots solve real-world engineering challenges related to the challenge. There are three levels of programing challenges for each of the seven models. This is recommended for grades 3th or higher.
We will do a physical activity in the afternoon in all the Camps to make sure the kids get some physical activity during the day.
