West Los Angeles Summer Camps

Since 1995, Camp Exploration has offered this wondeful winter opportunity. The name says it all - SNOWvernight Camp. The main activity is Skiing or Snowboarding. Lessons and equipment rentals are provided. After a full day in the snow, campers may enjoy the hot-tub in our cabin, or the indoor heated pool about a hundred yards away. Campers may help in the kitchen, and learn to make some enjoyable dishes, for each evening's fabulous feast. The first night is an Asian buffet of edamame, hijiki, sweet and sour, kung pao, miso soup, rice, cha soba, lo mein, and more. Campers can roll their own veggie-sushi with a wide array of fixins from which to choose. The second night is an Italian buffet of linguini, marinara sauce, salad, garlic bread, and minestrone soup. The third night is a Middle Eastern buffet of falafel, tabouli, cous cous, babaganoush, hummous, dolma, lentil soup, and more. The fourth night is our Pre-New Year's Party, with a buffet of left-overs and much added New Year's munchies - chips, salsa, guacamole, popcorn, pretzles, cookies, punch, etc. Each night, there is also a marathon of age-appropriate movies to go with the night's theme. Campers stay 2, 3, or 4 to a room in our woodsy, rustic 5 bedroom cabin, (with balcony over the lake). This is an exciting get-away for those whose families are not going away over the winter vacation.

At Camp Exploration, we believe not only in providing a fun, and of course, safe summer program for each child, but we believe strongly in aiding and guiding the optimal development of the whole child. Our trip program offers much opportunity for exploring, experiencing, and enjoying an array of activities and sites. Where ever we are, and what ever we are doing, constant caring attention is given to the individual child, their interactions with others, and their relationship with the world around them. Personalized one-on-one attention is provided to help each child grow from where s/he is currently at. Group development is ongoing, always with a camper-staff ratio of about 4:1. We only accept twelve campers per week. Campers, however, may enroll for one week, eleven weeks, or any combination in between.
