Walden is a traditional summer camp located at the northern tip of Lower Michigan. Its pristine 90 acres of virgin forest includes expansive lakefront on spring-fed Long Lake. Since 1959, Walden has been a place where children come to make new friends, acquire new skills, and, most of all, learn about themselves. The camp offers kids the opportunity to create their own daily schedule, supplemented by nightly cabin/unit activities and special-day events, such as capture the flag, soap box derby, beach parties and more. Day trips to Mackinac Island, state parks, historic sights and a nearby water park complement the in-camp program, as do overnight trips to the abundant state/national parks and scenic sites in northern Michigan (Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Tahquamenon Falls). Our mature and talented staff are dedicated to making every child's experience a safe, fun and memorable one _ and we've been doing just that for nearly 50 years! | |
