More About Camp
Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of western North Carolina, Eagle’s Nest is a magical place that encourages wonder and helps children grow through meaningful experiences. At Eagle's Nest, campers discover what it means to belong: to rocks and rivers, forests and friends. In addition to learning skills in their self-selected activities, campers experience the joy of being independent and making friends in a fun, safe and vibrant camp community. Accredited by the American Camp Association, Eagle’s Nest is focused on maintaining the highest possible level of safety and hiring the most qualified and experienced counselors, staff, and administration. We embrace the richness of diversity and importance of inclusion, and encourage personal responsibility and self-knowledge. Eagle’s Nest is a safe, supportive, and nurturing community where children can be themselves, try new things, and step out of their comfort zones.
Activities: Children participate in four activities each day. The activities are self-selected from the categories of Wilderness, Arts/Music/Drama, Athletics, and Special Activities. While teaching each activity, we stress the importance of community awareness, skill-building, and sportsmanship while striving to promote a healthy, joyful lifestyle. And, of course, we have FUN!
Added Adventures: As children grow at Eagle’s Nest, they are encouraged to participate in added adventures that we offer. HUCK FINN is an added adventure for 5th and 6th graders. During Huck Finn, campers leave Eagle’s Nest for a week (during Session II) to embark on an experiential journey inspired by the novel Huckleberry Finn. They float down the French Broad River on homemade rafts, camping, fishing, cooking, and reliving the story of Huck Finn along the way.
Hante Adventures: One, two, or three week wilderness and cultural expeditions for teenagers (ages 13-18) in various locations around the United States and the world.
