WHAT SETS US APART?
*** EXPERIENCE: Our primary cadre has over 200 collective years of working with Cadets. Most of our staff were Cadets as young people and later served successfully in the Armed Forces. Your training will be led by seasoned professionals, some of which have been involved with 25+ years of attending and operating military-style summer programs.
*** REALISM: You will live in the same barracks as thousands of Cadets who have gone on to become military officers. Our staff is comprised of Drill Sergeants who are professionals at military training. Our standards are very high, providing you with the most realistic view of military life available.
Cadet Basic Training (CBT) is a two-week, high-adventure, introduction to military life. You will train, sweat and find your inner-strength with other young people from around the world. Recruits are led by seasoned Drill Sergeants, officers and NCOs who instill a high level of personal pride, self-discipline and internal confidence in each recruit. This is an excellent opportunity to experience the military lifestyle as a primer for the possibility of future military service or attendance at a Service Academy. Highlights of CBT include marksmanship training, rappelling, taking on a confidence course, with a full Graduation Ceremony as the final event.
> CADET FIELD LEADER COURSE (two weeks)
Success in the military, academic or corporate environment is largely based on teamwork and communication skills. These are the fundamental traits of any good leader. The Cadet Field Leader Course (CFLC) is a two-week basic leadership program, based on the Army's Warrior Leader Course. Cadets are exposed to leadership traits and principles, while also working to develop an awareness of how they fit into a team. This is a heavily field-based program, with teamwork exhibited in a fire team, squad and platoon environment.
> CADET BASIC TRAINING AND CADET FIELD LEADER COMBINED COURSE (four weeks)
The Army trains Soldiers based on the philosophy of CRAWL - WALK - RUN. In order to run, you must know how to walk. To walk, you must have learned to crawl. Cadets learn to "Crawl" in Cadet Basic Training. The basic skills and experiences are built upon through the Cadet Field Leader Course where it's time to "Walk." Most learn best when the two courses are attended back-to-back, for a total of four weeks. Approximately 70% of our Cadets will attend this option. Recommended for age 15+
> CADET RANGER SCHOOL (two weeks)
There are those who have no choice but to push themselves harder, longer and further than those around them. The Cadet Ranger School (CRS) is meant for those hard-chargers. The two-week CRS is the toughest and most intense of our programs. This training is reserved for young men and women, age 16 and older, who are driven to excel within a military training environment. Cadets and Explorers of other military style programs, who have completed a 10-day or longer recruit training program, may apply to attend. Statistically, 35% will NOT graduate from this program. Not everyone "wins a trophy." Failure to meet ALL standards will result in transfer to another training program.
NOTE: At least two females must enroll and meet the standards to have female participation in this course
> RECRUIT TO RANGER PROGRAM (four weeks)
This is for those young people who think they've got what it takes to master the skills of Cadet Basic Training, while taking on the additional requirements of the Cadet Ranger School. Recruit to Ranger (R2R) recruits will attend CBT with all other recruits. On day 8 of CBT, the R2R recruits will be administered the Cadet Ranger School Physical Fitness Test. You will have ONE CHANCE to pass this test. If you do, you will complete week two of CBT in a special platoon, led by the Cadet Ranger School instructors.
You will finish CBT in a much more intense environment, preparing for the next two weeks of Cadet Ranger School. If you do not meet the standards, you will be transferred to the Cadet Field Leader Course.
NOTES: This program is reserved for highly-motivated and physically fit recruits who are age 16+. At least two females must enroll and meet the standards to have female participation in this course.
> CADET ON-THE-JOB TRAINING: TRAINING SERVICE SUPPORT POSITIONS (five weeks)
Not everyone in the Uniformed Services is an Infantry troop. Even in the U.S. Marine Corps, where "every Marine is a rifleman," there are support personnel to ensure the system moves efficiently.
This is five weeks of on-the-job training, where Cadets are involved in the operation of the camp, including administration, public affairs, operations, supply, etc.
Applicants must be highly-qualified and hand-picked for this program. This course is also ideal for Cadets of other programs (Civil Air Patrol, JROTC, Young Marines, etc.) who have completed at least three weeks of residential military training and are at least 16 years of age.
> CADET SCUBA SCHOOL (one week)
The Cadet SCUBA School is a one-week program designed for current Cadets or adult cadre with JROTC, XMC and other Cadet programs. Completion of the XMC two-week Cadet Basic Training Course, or a comparable program, or at least one-year in a militarily-structured Cadet program, is required to attend. Minimum age is 15, with no exceptions. Upon successful completion, each trainee will be certified as an Open Water Diver.
Come physically and mentally prepared for long days, as there will also be military expectations of each student. Physical training, room inspections, study sessions, etc. Cadets attending the Cadet Recon Course (CRC), except those attending the Recruit to Recon Course, are strongly recommended to attend this course prior to CRC.
Graduates of the Cadet SCUBA School will be awarded the XMC SCUBA device for wear on their uniform, or for display. A minimum of ten trainees is required for the Cadet SCUBA School to to executed.
> Military Fitness Challenge
The Military Fitness Challenge is a one-week program designed to help prepare Cadets and recruits for the rigors of Cadet Basic Training, Cadet Field Leader Course and Cadet Ranger School. This course will help participants be ready for the physical tests during the rest of their time at XMC.
Cadets and recruits will be coached through an intense daily fitness regimen which is designed to improve their strength, align eating habits with a healthy diet, and increase endurance.
This is not a stand-alone course. It must be taken in conjunction with other XMC courses.
