Frontier Lodge is a Christian wilderness adventure camp located on the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies in Alberta. The camp was founded in 1959 and was first owned and operated by Youth for Christ. About 30 years ago it became independent as “Frontier Camping Society” and is a registered Canadian Charity. It is a member of Christian Camping International (CCI) and an accredited member of the Alberta Camping Association (ACA).
The camp strives to use the beauty and ruggedness of the mountains to challenge both young and old in a safe environment. Frontier is situated on a spring-fed mountain lake with canoeing, fishing, and swimming available. There are trails from the lodge that can be used for hiking, mountain biking or skiing. More extensive trails are only a short distance away.
A wide variety of outdoor programs are offered ranging from mountain biking, rock climbing, caving, rappelling, fly fishing and whitewater canoeing in summer to ice climbing, skiing, survival training and snowshoeing in winter. High-quality program and safety equipment is provided at no additional charge.
In addition to its annual summer camps, Frontier lodge is open year-round as a retreat/conference center. Groups looking for a place to hold a business conference, church retreat or to do wilderness activities can contact the camp to customize their program. Frontier Lodge offers the awesome scenery of the Canadian Rockies, warm hospitality, and a comfortable place to stay. Whether you are an organized group with a customized program or an individual participating in a summer camp or special event, you will find Frontier Lodge a great place to relax and enjoy God's nature.
The main lodge contains the dining area and meeting place for up to 100 people. There are eight winterized cabins that sleep 8-10 people each in dorm-style bunk beds. Two cabins have bathrooms; the others use large central bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers.
Surrounded by woods and wildlife, the camp has a truly wilderness atmosphere that is both relaxing and inspiring. The mission of Frontier is “to use God’s wilderness to reach, teach and train youth and adults for Jesus Christ”, and you are invited to come, be challenged and enjoy the beauty of His creation.
