WHERE ADVENTURES BEGIN! Since 1943, campers from Canada and around the world join together for fun, adventure and learning. Located on Fairy Lake in the beautiful Muskoka region of Ontario, Swallowdale Camp welcomes campers ages 7 to 15 (LIT 16 years) to participate in a variety of water and land activities led by dedicated and enthusiastic staff. Campers are encouraged to make independent decisions within a fully supervised environment, an approach which adds variety and flexibility to their experience and contributes to personal growth, leadership and responsibility.
Our staff: When it comes to summer camps, parents and children alike have come to appreciate our reputation for hiring the most qualified teachers, activity instructors, and programme staff. Our high staff-to-student ratios ensure that students receive the attention and care needed to make their stay great. Activities are instructed and supervised by dedicated camp staff and all students receive the maximum levels of comfort and care whether they are seasoned travelers or first-time campers. Lifeguards are certified in water safety and activity coordinators are trained in their activity area.
Activities: Lakefield has something for everyone! Each week, campers choose 5 daily activities from a vast array of options. We offer archery, windsurfing, kayaking, volleyball, woodworking, various sports, sailing, geo-caching and so much more. And, for campers whose first language is not English, we are pleased to offer ESL classes.
Facilities: Cabins accommodate 8-12 campers in bunk beds. Staff are housed in a separate room within the cabin to ensure proper supervision at all times. Each cabin has electricity, a toilet and a sink. Central showers are also available. Campers are divided by age and gender and take pride in being part of their cabin family in friendly competitions and games.
Language Instruction: ESL is available as an option for campers whose first language is not English. 10 hours hours per week of ESL is taught by qualified instructors. ESL comprises 2 of the 5 daily activity periods.
LIT Programme: The LIT (Leaders-In-Training) Leadership programme provides young people, aged 16 years, with an opportunity to develop an awareness of social responsibility, while nurturing their individuality and self-confidence. The programme goal is to teach young leaders the importance of being accountable for their actions, while helping them to gain hands-on experience and develop an array of skills including personal development, teamwork and communication.
Optional Excursions: Optional excursions are offered to all campers at an extra fee. Excursions offered are dependent upon session dates and duration. All excursions are fully supervised by camp staff and include transportation and admission costs.
Transportation: We offer flexible session dates and optional transfer services from Toronto's Pearson International Airport or Union Station.
Swallowdale Camp truly is the place where adventures begin. So why wait? Register today for a summer experience you will never forget!
