Himmelbjerget Danish Camp 2020 will take place from June 21 to June 27, 2020, in Corbett, near Portland, Oregon at the beautiful Menucha Retreat Center. Through fun activities young people 4th through 12th grade will be exposed to Denmark - its history, people, language, culture, and traditions. The 2014 theme was Danish Festivals, and in 2013 it was about Hans Christian Andersen, the writer of fairy tales such as The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling and more. The theme for 2015 was Danish Folklore, and for 2016 it was about Vikings and their adventures. The campers learned about the various tales of old including their exploits and battles. They also learned stories of their conquests and explorations of other countries from Europe to North America. In camp they will enjoy studying in 'family groups', arts and crafts, dancing, playing games, in relationship to Denmark and the current theme. For 2020 it is Nordic Mythology. Many interesting historical and current activities regarding their theme will be used as a basis for activities. With help from a Danish counselor, campers will learn Danish language and history directly from a Danish native. At Himmelbjerget Danish Camp, unique in the Northwest, you will meet new friends and have an unforgettable time!
