Adventures Cross-Country (ARCC) offers domestic and international adventure trips in over 15 countries and 5 western states throughout North America, Asia, Africa, South Pacific, Australia, Europe, Central and South America. In addition, ARCC offers Global Action programs that focus on pressing issues affecting local communities and Gap Semester programs that provide an educational and cultural bridge between high school and college.

With 29 years of experience, ARCC students travel to a variety of the world's most spectacular locations and participate in activities such as community service projects, language schools, cultural immersion, backpacking, sailing, SCUBA diving, surfing, rafting, sea kayaking, zip-lining, rock climbing, mountaineering, glacier travel, ice climbing, and more!

Trip destinations include Australia, Fiji, China, Tibet, Thailand, Ecuador, Galapagos, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Egypt, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, France, Switzerland, Morocco, Costa Rica, Belize, California, Hawaii, Alaska, Utah and Colorado. No experience other than enthusiastic participation is required.

ARCC offers trips in five categories:

1. Global Action: Global Action programs focus on pressing issues affecting the communities we visit. Students participate in a series of studies on important topics, such as interactions between humans and ecosystems, public health, sustainable development and cultural preservation. Merging education and service, students examine the issues from multiple points of view and interact directly with those involved on all sides. Students gain a global perspective on local issues and engage in the learning experience of a lifetime! Programs include: Galapagos Shark Study and Kenya/Zanzibar Wildlife Study.

2. Community Service Adventures: ARCC's Community Service Adventures offer a chance to give something back to the communities we visit while taking part in world-class adventure activities. Service sections include teaching English to local school children, caring for elephants/sea turtles/pandas, and building much needed facilities in rural villages. Adventures in Africa, Australia, California, China, Tibet, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Galapagos, Egypt, Fiji, Hawaii, Morocco, Spain, Turkey, Greece and Thailand. Lodging will be in local guest-houses, small hotels, and occasionally camping.

3. Language & Service Adventures: Language Adventures are international programs where learning a language, exploring the culture, and getting off the beaten path are an integral part of the adventure. Features time at accredited language schools working with native speakers, and working on community service projects. Programs are in France, Spain, and Costa Rica. Lodging is a mix of hotels, hostels, and village-hosted stays. Time not in class will be spent exploring cities and participating in adventure activities like windsurfing, whitewater rafting, surfing and zip-lining.

4. Multisport Adventures: Our Multisport Adventures offer a range of activities like rafting, rock climbing, or sea kayaking, as well as overnight wilderness backpacking in North America and Europe. Curriculum focuses on individual development and group leadership. Multisport Adventures are suitable for both “first timers” and experienced students. Lodging is predominantly camping in some of the most spectacular locations in Alaska, Costa Rica, Belize, Hawaii, Italy, France, Switzerland, Utah, and Colorado.

5. Gap Semester: Adventures Cross-Country's Gap Year Semester Programs offer an educational and cultural bridge between high school and college. The ARCC Gap Semesters are an opportunity to live, work, learn, and explore in some of the greatest classrooms on earth. On an ARCC Gap Semester, students immerse into the culture through homestays, service work, teaching, and exchange. ARCC offers GAP Fall Africa and GAP Spring Asia semesters.

4. Ocean Science, Maritime History - Ocean Science and Maritime History Programs

The Ocean Institute in Dana Point offers a variety of ocean science and maritime history programs for children ages 5 and up. Programs are held at the Institute’s facility in Dana Point Harbor, alongside the Pacific Ocean, and make use of the Institute’s state-of-the-art Ocean Education Center, its research vessel Sea Explorer, its two tall ships, Pilgrim and Spirit of Dana Point and the nearby Dana Point Marine Life Refuge. Programs begin at the close of the school year in June.

Dive into the summer with Camp SEA Lab! Spend your summer getting in, out and around the water along Monterey Bay, CA. Join Camp SEA Lab for a week of hands-on experiential opportunities exploring the marine environment. Boys and girls will have the opportunity to explore our rocky coast and sandy shores, discover marine life, design and fly Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV), and investigate the diverse web of life that calls the ocean its home. Campers gain skills in teamwork, make new friends and gain self-confidence that enables them to become the new stewards of our coasts and ocean. Travel along the coast and discover how you too can become an ambassador of the ocean and ride the wave into a great summer experience.

UCSF Camps help children expand their curiosity, imagination and appreciation of the world around them in a safe and attentive environment in which they can strengthen and develop their social skills and build long lasting relationships with kids of all ages and the Camp Staff.

UCSF Camps are located at and operated by the Fitness & Recreation Centers at UCSF and offer, for both girls and boys, innovative activity camps for late preschool and kindergarteners; a fun variety of recreational sports, outdoor adventure, imaginative expression and environmental exploration programs for elementary and early middle schoolers entering 1st - 7th grades; and, teen leadership building programs for late middle and early high schoolers entering 8th-10th grades as well as complimentary extended care.

UCSF Campers participate in a broad range of activities such as climbing on our outdoor climbing wall, swimming in our outdoor and indoor pools, playing recreational sports and games in our gym and creating projects with our arts and sciences programs as well as exploring the extraordinary and inspiring place in which they live - the greater Bay Area.

8. Treasure Island Sailing Center Week-Long Summer and Adventure Camp

The Treasure Island Sailing Center is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to improve our community and the sport of sailing by providing access, facilities, and sailing instruction to people of all socioeconomic backgrounds, skill levels, and physical abilities.

Treasure Island Sailing Center offers affordable sailing for youth and adults as well as scholarships for those in need. Summer camp is offered weekly beginning June 14 through August 20. Summer camp is offered at $150 for one week of half day camp and $300 for full day camp. Summer camp is for youth age 7-18 and includes sailing, windsurfing, and paddle boarding.

Families on government assistance come for free and families with a household income of $65,000 or less come for 50% off the advertised price.
