1. Camp McCormick - Camp McCormick is owned and operated by the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois
Resident Camp
Family Camp
All Girls
Stillman Valley, IL

Camp McCormick is a rustic camp that offers programs for girls ages 7-17. We strive to empower girls to participate in activities where they can learn camping skills as well as life skills. Just because they are in a rustic setting does not mean the skills they learn at camp will not apply to the "non-camp" world around them.

Camp McCormick offers over 425 acres of adventurous woodlands to explore. Camp McCormick offers challenging programs for girls in grades K-12. Girls stay 1 - 12 nights depending on age, program, and skill level.

Campers may choose from general and specialty sessions depending on their age and interest, and work with their counselors and fellow campers after arrival to plan their activities during their stay. Campers live in platform tent units, covered wagon units, or in open air style cabin units.

Camp staff are carefully screened and selected, and represent the highest character, skill and caring. Each unit and activity staff member is trained in First Aid and CPR, and all staff members participate in a comprehensive staff training prior to the summer. Aquatics and horseback riding staff possess specialized skills and certifications. Staff members are at least eighteen years of age, and are from across the United States and abroad. Many are current college or university students or recent graduates.

Camp McCormick is fully accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). ACA-accreditation is a distinction only one in four camps seeks and earns. To earn accreditation, our camp complies with over 300 stringent health, safety and program quality standards, and is visited regularly by ACA standards visitors to monitor our compliance. Facilities at Camp McCormick include a central dining hall lodge and commercial kitchen, camp office and Health Center, platform tent, covered wagon, and cabin living units, miles of hiking trails, a heated in-ground swimming pool, open fields for sports and games, and several primitive sites for tent camping and cookout.

A fulltime Camp Ranger lives on-site, and is in constant communication with Resident Camp staff by way of UHF radio. The Camp Ranger also monitors and advises the Camp Director of approaching weather conditions.

Campers need not be Girl Scouts in order to attend Camp McCormick, though camp fee subsidies are provided to Girl Scouts registered within Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois. Summer Day Camp is also available, and Troop Camping is available during fall, winter and spring months. For more information, simply submit a request and our Resident Camp Director will contact you directly.
