iD Gaming Academy is a 2-week, overnight, pre-college immersive summer program held at prestigious universities nationwide. 3. Oak Park Kidz Journalism/Newspaper Camp - Journalism Camp

A new newspaper/journalism summer camp is now offered for middle school students in Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park.

Campers will write reviews and articles, take photographs and produce comics for KIDZ NEWZ--a real kid-content newspaper that will be distributed, free in libraries and other kid-friendly establishments of Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park.

Camp will include special guest appearances by working journalists and photographers. Campers will also attend field trips to the Oak Park Police Department and Village Hall and local newspaper offices.

When: June and August 2011
Session 1 DATES: Wednesdays and Fridays 10am -2 pm June 15, 17; 22, 24; June 29, Jul. 1
Session 2 DATES: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10 am -2 pm August: 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 12
Where: Ascension School: 601 Van Buren Oak Park
Cost: Each 6-class session costs $230 per student. Limit 15 students per class.

Who we are: Camp director Jean Lotus is a working reporter, a substitute teacher and an Oak Park mom of five. She is the parent coordinator of the Ascension School newspaper, “Attention Ascension”. Camp activities will also be staffed by journalism students from Columbia College and DePaul University. Offered with media partnership from Wednesday Journal.

4. Summer in the Arts at Northern - Visual Arts, Jazz, and Theatre are featured in 4 different residential camps

Summer in the Arts at Northern offers junior and senior high school students a chance to take their visual art, theatre, or jazz skills to the next level. Camps begin on Sunday and end with a show on Friday. All are on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. Camps are Theatre Arts Camp Junior for grades 6-8, Visual Arts Camp for grades 8-12, NIU Jazz Camp for grades 8-12, and Theatre Arts Camp Senior for grades 9-12. Camp directors and staff are NIU faculty, students, and alumni. Campers stay in newly renovated NIU residence halls and enjoy an intensive and fun week. Phone (815) 753-1450.
