Spend the summer with horses at a horseback riding camp. Learn Western and English style of riding, jumping, as well as vaulting (gymnastics on horseback). At some horse camps, participation in horse shows and competitions are common. Proper care for horses and trail riding are often integral activities at most equestrian summer camps.

1. Camp Conestoga - Fun, growth, and adventure for girls. Progressive programs based on Girl Scout values. Traditional and themed programs, established equestrian program, teen and leadership programs, and day, troop, and adult/girl partner camping.
Resident Camp - Day Camp - All Girls - New Liberty, Iowa

Camp Conestoga, owned and operated by Girl Scouts of the Mississippi Valley, is located in eastern Iowa about 25 miles northwest of Davenport. The camp is situated on 340 rolling, wooded acres. Conestoga is home to hiking and horseback riding trails, a prairie, a lake, an archery range, a sand volleyball court, a low ropes course, and a zipline. Facilities include a dining hall, swimming pool and shower house, trading post (camp store), health center, and living units including cabins, platform tents, teepees and primitive areas. 2, 3, and 5 night programs offered Sunday-Friday, June-August. Some specialty programs run 9+ nights. Regardless of theme, programs give girls opportunities to explore the world around them, build a sense of community and an appreciation of nature, develop new skills and self-confidence, and have fun. Caring and dedicated staff team. Scholarships available. Non-Girl Scouts welcome.

2. Village Creek Bible Camp & Retreat Center
Resident Camp - Adult Camp - Day Camp - Family Camp / Retreat - Coed - Lansing, Iowa

“Amazing Place, Amazing God” Village Creek Bible Camp is ready to serve you. We are conveniently located central to the four states of IA, MN, WI and IL, in the beautiful hills of N.E. Iowa. Situated on 220 acres of some of the prettiest land in the upper-Midwest, Village Creek has much more to offer than just its beautiful setting. Our facilities can comfortably serve groups up to 250 for retreats and 200 campers during our summer camping season. Almost all rooms have air conditioning available and many rooms have private baths. We also have an air conditioned full-size gym complex as well as our many exciting outdoor activity areas. The Blob, kayaking, fishing and the beach are some of the highlights at the lake. We also have an extensive paintball program, archery, high and low ropes challenge course with one of the longest zip-lines in the Midwest. Trail-riding, horsemanship instruction as well as horsemanship camps are a core program of Village Creek utilizing our beautiful surroundings as well as a large arena. Our Bungee trampolines and 100’ waterslide are two camp favorites as well.
We take great pride how we strive to serve each guest no matter what their age and make each person feel welcome and cared for. Part of our excellent service is the great food you will enjoy. You’ll leave full but wanting more. Fresh baked breads, great variety and the ability to meet your special dietary needs are a part of what makes our foodservice one of the best.

3. Camp Horse Source - Camp Horse Source. ages 7 - 16. Summer sessions June - August. Individual riding lessons, group riding, horse show for parents, and campfire cookouts. Weekend camp available in the Spring and Fall. Camp Horse Source is Fun and Educational!
Resident Camp - Day Camp - All Boys - All Girls - Delta, Iowa
4. Cedar Valley Stables - Boots & Saddles is a 4-day 3-night (Mon-Thurs) horse camp. The ranch is located on the Cedar River and campers will have a blast spending quality time learning how to care for their horses and riding through 200 acres of beautiful trails.
Resident Camp - All Girls - Tipton, Iowa

Come join us for Boots & Saddles, a horse camp for girls ages 10 and up. Campers spend mornings learning how to care for and ride their horses. The ranch is located right on the scenic Cedar River, with 200+ acres of beautiful trails for campers to explore. Each horse is specifically chosen to match the rider's ability level, and all of our horses are well trained and well cared-for. Safety is a must, and all campers are required to wear a helmet when riding. Campers will spend several hours with the horses each day, usually coming back from the morning ride just in time for lunch. By the end of the week, all campers will have learned how to walk, trot and canter, and will show off these skills to friends and family in a horse show Thursday evening. Both new and returning campers will enjoy traditions like the cookout, hayrack ride, pizza night, and scary stories. Camps run weekly from mid June through mid August (2010 dates to be announced), and cost $360/week. Besides camp, the ranch is open for trail rides weekends April-October for individuals and groups. You can also rent the lodge Friday or Saturday night and make your visit complete. No previous horse experience necessary. Feel free to call or email for more information.
