Looking For A Camp: Browse: Specialties: Adventure Camps: ME Total: 5
1. Greater Portland YMCA - The Greater Portland YMCA has over 17 different camps that offer a wide variety of activities. We are looking for staff for waterfront activities, general counselors, ropes course, and trip programs.
Day Camp - Coed - Portland, Maine

We provide before and after care as well as bussing from the Greater Portland area.

2. Ocean Classroom Seafaring Adventure Camp - One, two, and three week learning adventures along the New England Coast for young people ages 13-19, sailing and living aboard the schooners Spirit of Massachusetts, Harvey Gamage, and Westward.
Resident Camp - Travel Camp - Coed - Boothbay Harbor, Maine

When you climb the gangway to the deck, you step away from the familiar routines of school, friends, and family, and begin your own personal voyage of discovery. Your home is a magnificent 19th century-style sailing ship, cruising the New England Coast.
You become a sailor, standing watch, hauling halyards, tending sheets, and steering your ship with pride as she scuds along before a fresh breeze. You watch whales, seals, and dolphins in their natural habitats, and observe the ocean world through hands-on investigations led by dynamic instructors eager to share their passion for ocean stewardship.

You’ll visit historic ports along the coast and her islands, including historical sites and museums, and be submerged in maritime culture through the stories, legends, superstitions, and myths of sailing ships and the sea. The rewards are found in moonlight nights with a gentle breeze…in knowing the names of the stars… and in feeling at home in the vastness of the ocean world.

You experience this voyage with strangers who will quickly become friends – friendships born through shared adventure. You become a respected member of a close-knit community, and what you learn about yourself is the true bounty of your voyage. Welcome aboard!

3. Friends Camp - A caring and accepting community with Quaker values, creative activities and zany fun!
Resident Camp - Travel Camp - Family Camp / Retreat - Coed - South China, Maine

Friends Camp is a Quaker residential summer camp for boys and girls ages 7-17. We are a diverse and caring community that nurtures the unique personalities of all of our campers. Friends Camp is an exceptional place where ample time for childhood and reflection is combined with creative arts, non-competitive games, waterfront activities, drama, group games, and many interesting and creative activities. For five and a half decades, campers have looked back at their time at Friends Camp as a wonderful, life-changing experience. Each summer, our counselors and campers create their own intentional community based on six important values: • To create an atmosphere of tolerance and love where special friendships take root. • To develop a community that sees the light of goodness in everyone. • To live by the Quaker values of community, equality, integrity, peace, and simplicity. • To offer interesting, creative, non-competitive, and fun activities that help young people grow into healthy and responsible adults. • To work toward a more diverse community by providing affordable tuition and camperships. • To work toward improving the environment by reducing energy usage and waste. We are also a camp full of silliness and lots of zany fun! Our goal is to help each individual become a more thoughtful, joyful, and caring person. Founded in 1953, Friends Camp continues its long tradition of providing a child-centered overnight camping experience. Campers gain self-confidence by choosing their activities and learning new skills. They discover an appreciation of nature and they grow as individuals while learning to be a part of a community greater than themselves. Our traditional sessions run for two weeks each and are full of all kinds of interesting activities. In addition, we offer three drama camps, three outdoor experience camps, and an aquatic safety camp for older campers who wish to become lifeguards. Young people can attend Friends Camp for one week (Jones Camp only), two weeks, and four weeks. Friends Camp is a small camp with 75 to 95 campers. Our rustic cabins have bunks for between 7 to 10 campers, with one or two counselors sleeping in each cabin. Campers develop a strong loyalty to Friends Camp, and return summer after summer. In an increasingly hectic world, Friends Camp is one of the few remaining places that allow young people to reconnect with nature and learn a sense of community through spiritual fellowship. At Friends Camp, we provide a place for children to get away from television and video games, cell phones, e-mail, and instant messaging. Each session is full of many options, such as swimming, sailing, canoeing crafts, games, and an overnight expedition to Indian Island on China Lake. Some of our campers come from Quaker families, but most hail from other backgrounds. We welcome youth of all faiths as well as those who identify with no particular faith at all.

Study the smiling faces and envision what the Wekeela summer experience has in store for you. We cannot wait for next summer.
Resident Camp - Coed - Hartford, Maine

I am often asked, "What sets our camp apart from other camps?" Well, I tell people...Wekeela is gorgeous, the campers are fantastic, our facilities are top notch, the lake has pristine waters, and there is magic at Wekeela. Yes, we have great campers-after all, the apple does not fall from the tree. Our staff is the grand equalizer. We are so privileged to have dedicated men and women return year after year to the shores of Little Bear Pond. They return because they love Wekeela, they love Maine. They return because they understand what camp is about. It's about being a role model to children. It is about being a teacher, it is about having tremendous FUN. Our staff affects, shapes, and defines our campers' summer like no other individual. Our staff understands that Wekeela is not just camp, it's a way of life."
