The Odyssey School’s Camp Windward is a specialized summer program for children with dyslexia held on the school’s campus in Baltimore County. Camp Windward incorporates an individualized, structured academic experience in the mornings, designed to promote ongoing skill development in the areas of reading, oral language, written

Christian camp with weekly themed activities. Camp sessions accomodate 10 campers weekly. Camp averages over 70 different children yearly. The camp offers a smaller setting but with all the fun field trips for an exciting summer. Regular activities include Bible lessons, skating trips,library visits, music lessons, museum visits, visits to children's theatrical shows, surprise guests, hourly activities & more! Academically, the campers will have the opportunity to strengthen reading skills and math skills every week for a set amount of time appropriate for their age. Developmentally there will be opportunities for campers to develop self confidence,and form positive peer relationships. The camp is appropriate for ages 5-11. Camp tuition is $170 per week. Our Montessori Summer Program will run 3 three-week sessions for ages 2.5 to 5 years old. The Montessori Summer Program’s goal is to strengthen the skills begun during the school year or to give incoming students an opportunity to become acquainted with the Montessori classroom, and for children to enjoy and experience the wonders of Montessori.

Camp hours for all programs are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with half day options for children in our Summer Day Camp Acorns group or our Montessori Summer Camp. Before and after care is available from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Campers in grades 1-6 can explore science in a fun, interactive way. Our quality hands-on experiments, innovative curriculum and professional instructors bring your child’s understanding of science to the next level. Campers will compete in extreme sports challenges; build a detective kit and use cutting edge forensics science; thrill to building racers, planes and a gigantic roller coaster and launch the High Flyer rocket into the stratosphere. Summer at Sandy Spring is known for having an interesting variety of camps; low staff to camper ratios; experienced, caring adults responsible for each program and excellent facilities. We are located on Sandy Spring Friends School’s beautiful, 140-acre, wooded campus. We are located near Olney, Wheaton, Rockville, and Silver Spring.

Campers love our performing arts center, ropes course, nature trails, two gymnasiums, playgrounds, art barn, natural swimming pond, and computer labs.

Summer at Sandy Spring offers art, activity, sports, academic enrichment, general and activity camps, such as Fishing, Culinary Arts, Soccer, Counselors-in-Training, Woodshop, Rocketry ,Adventure Camps, Cermaics, Photography Basketball, and Volleyball.

Washington College’s Geospatial Discoveries Summer Program offers a unique summer experience for kids in grades 7-12. Program attendees will spend one week at Washington College exploring many areas of this growing field. In combination with GIS, participants will also explore the depths of the Chester River, and create a 3D replica of a building or some other feature in a virtual world. By the end of the week participants will walk away with an understanding of geospatial technologies and how they are used in everyday life.

Camp runs from June 24th to June 30th, 2012.

Living Classrooms Summer Camp offers children a unique outdoor learning experience. Children enjoy many activites including hiking, meeting animals, gardening, rafting, swimming, boating and more, all while actively learning about science and the environment. Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region is a nonprofit organization that promotes outdoor hands-on education to youth.

SIG at Sandy Spring Friends School, MD, provides academically advanced students ages 4-12 with an exciting and challenging educational experience.
