About Evergreen Summer Camp

For more than 37 years, the Evergreen Montessori School Summer Camp has offered programs designed to emphasize creating exciting opportunities to learn, play, and grow. Be sure to check out our two new programs (Mad Science and Art and Culture Bites with Gourmet Chefs at Evergreen) for ages 6.5-10 years old!

Young Discoverers’ Camp
for children ages 3.5 to 6

Includes swimming and field trips
Half-day or full day options

Our summer classrooms are set up to engross children in learning-based activities of their choosing. Every week is theme-based and has high quality activities, guest visitors, weekly field trips, and learning centers based around that theme. Students visit the pool once a week and receive a lesson with a certified instructor. Napping is available for children who need it.



Montessori Summer Program
for children ages 2.5 to 5

Includes swimming on Fridays and field trips.

This program strengthens the skills that children developed during the school year and acquaints incoming students with the Montessori classroom. Every child will enjoy exploring artistic and cultural themes. Under the guidance of an experienced Evergreen Montessori teacher, children in the summer program learn by making discoveries, developing concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning.

Students have a weekly field trip, visit the pool once a week, and receive a lesson with a certified instructor. Napping is available for children who need it.

Session 1: June 17 to July 5 – Making Games from What We Learn (No Camp on July 4th)
Session 2: July 8 to July 26 – What’s Cooking in Food and Science?
Session 3: July 29 to August 16 – It’s a Small World


Junior & Senior Explorers Programs for children ages 6.5 to 11:

OPTION 1: Art and Culture Bites
Calling all budding artists and chefs! Build Spanish Medieval castles and make tapas fit for a king! Learn words in Italian, draw like da Vinci, and make Italian dishes that would make any tenor sing. Each morning is dedicated to the creation of a piece of art in a historical style followed by an afternoon of hands-on cooking.

OPTION 2: Science Exploration and Cooking
Science programs are led by expert science teachers from Mad Science. Campers will explore science in the morning and cooking in the afternoon. See cooking themes above.


Special Sessions:

Urban Adventures explore the region in day-long field trips. Two one-week Special Sessions for children ages 4 to 10 (June 10-14 and July 1-5) (No Camp on July 4th).



Extended Hours fit every family’s needs: 7:30 am – 6:00 pm.



Camp hours for all programs are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with half day options for children in our Summer Day Camp Acorns group or our Montessori Summer Camp. Before and after care is available from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

2. Summer at Norwood - June-August. Day Camps, Adventure Camps. We offer a variety of classes including art, science, languages, music, drama, cooking, dance, rock climbing, kayaking, computer, and more!

Located on Norwood School’s beautiful 40-acre campus in Bethesda, Maryland, Summer at Norwood provides a summer experience where children can explore and immerse themselves in innovative, diverse, and enriching programs.

4. Summer at Sandy Spring - Summer at Sandy Spring is a day camp on the sprawling 140-acre campus of Sandy Spring Friends School. Our Friends Camp offers recreation and academic options for Pre-K through Grade 6 campers, and we offer specialty programs in Fishing, Sports, Cooking, Community Action, Adventure and Creative Arts for middle schoolers. High schoolers take part in our Counselors in Training program and gather useful skills and work experience.

Summer at Sandy Spring is a summer day camp for children entering grades Pre-K through 12 on the sprawling 140-acre campus of the Sandy Spring Friends School. Our Friends Camp offers both recreation and academic options for our Pre-K through Grade 6 campers, and specialty programs in Fishing, Soccer, Rugby, Culinary Arts, Xtreme Sports, Community Action, Day Ventures and Creative Arts for campers in grades 6-8. High school campers can train to become counselors in our Counselors in Training program and gather useful skills and experience. For families who need an extended day our Early Birds and Afternoon Owls programs can extend the camp day from 7:30 AM to 6 PM.

This year, we're excited to open our new, natural outdoor playground, and we have made a number of improvements to our Swimming Pond (one of only two natural swimming areas in Montgomery County) and our cooperative challenge ropes course. We're also hard at work planning our Wild West week, Carnival day, Cardboard boat races, and other weekly themes and events to make sure that this summer is our best yet!
