YMCA Camp Hi-Rock is a traditional coed sleep-away camp nestled among more than 1,000 protected acres of forest in the Berkshire Mountains in the southwest corner of Massachusetts with our own private 90 acre lake. Campers stay in cabins with a central bathhouse. Campers can stay for as short as one week or as long as eight. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. Transportation is offered from southern Connecticut, New York, and Boston.
While at Hi-Rock, a camper will be able to choose from over 30 program areas including archery, basketball, canoeing, creative crafts, creative writing, dance, drama, fishing, hiking, journalism, kayaking, nature, outdoor living skills, range sports, rocketry, rock climbing, ropes course, sailing, snorkeling, tennis, water skiing, windsurfing, and more! For teens, we offer specialty adventure trips that involve sea kayaking, rock climbing, white water rafting, and caving. We also offer four-week Leader In Training programs just for teens.
Our main philosophy at Hi-Rock is that each child is an individual and should be treated as such. Our staff strives to identify those areas in which each child excels and help that child feel good about him or herself. We provide solid role models through sensitive, knowledgeable, and professional staff members.
Camp Hi-Rock also offers a family camp session from August 29th - September 5th. Our family camp was recognized by Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel as one of the 50 best Family Camps in the United States.

The Gloucester Museum School Project Adventure Summer Camp offers a unique experience for all the children involved. The open spaces of Essex County serve as a backdrop for young people to learn to appreciate and understand the natural resources of their community. In addition campers experience adventure games, problem solving, ropes course, rock climbing, hiking, dory rowing and camping as a vehicle to learn and appreciate themselves through non-competitive personal challenge.
The camp staff uses beaches and other natural and historical areas throughout Essex County in order for our campers participate in the unique activities our community has to offer. GMS draws on the estuarine environment behind Wingaersheek beach to involve participants in a variety of different physical challenges and educational activities including: adventure games and problem solving, ropes course, rock climbing, hiking, dory rowing, and camping.
