COURSES
DMA offers day and overnight courses in weekly and multi-week sessions for youth, age 7-18. DMA courses accommodate a wide variety of digital media interests in a more sophisticated learning environment than other summer computer camps. All courses are project based and taught by accomplished professionals who have a passion for inspiring young minds. An average student to instructor ratio of 6 to 1 allows for plenty of individual attention as students explore, create and immerse themselves in an environment that is more like a production studio than a classroom.

THE TEEN EXPERIENCE
DMA’s teen courses for 2009 include Robotics, Digital Filmmaking, 3D Animation, Web Production, Programming, and Music and Video Production - just to name a few.
Teens may commute or stay on campus in university housing. Separate DMA couselor staff live in the dorm coordinating evening and weekend activities while ensuring a fun and safe experience for everyone. Teens living on campus receive breakfast, lunch and dinner in a university dining hall. Commuting students may purchase a dining hall lunch pass or buy their own lunch at one of several restaurants on campus.

THE YOUTH EXPERIENCE
DMA’s 2009 youth courses (called Digital Media Adventures) include Robotics, Digital Filmmaking, Game Creation, Web Design & Flash, Cartoon & Comic Book Creation and Surfing & Filmmaking. To create a more balanced experience, we incorporate outdoor recreation breaks throughout the day – we beleive, like you, that kids should move! Additional activities, such as sports, board games and weekend adventures are offered to youth in our residential program.

For beginners to advanced musicians ages 8-15. If you never played an instrument, this is a fun and interactive way to get a jump-start. If you’re an experienced player, it’s your chance to study with the best musicians in town and perform in a band. Campers choose from guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, vocals or horns and learn from our professional teachers in a friendly and creative curriculum-based environment.

Camp hours are Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM. During the week campers will:

o Develop creativity
o Improve musicianship
o Gain confidence in performing
o Learn teamwork skills
o Build self-esteem
o Aspire to further develop their musical skills
o Participate in a Friday Night Concert for family and friends
o Every concert is recorded and each camper receives a CD or MP3 file at the end of the summer.

BIMA at Brandeis University is the first residential summer arts institute of its kind for high school students to advance their artistic interests and skills within a Jewish context. BIMA offers an intensive arts opportunity for young people. The program runs from July 2-30 at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, just 9 miles west of Boston. BIMA cultivates a vibrant, pluralistic environment for participants to develop artistic skills, to deepen their Jewish knowledge, and to ask questions about the intersection of their identity as Jews and young people committed to the arts.

Our program is geared towards teenagers (currently in grades 9-11) who are dedicated to the arts and interested in Jewish life.

BIMA participants will enjoy:

-advancing their skills in chamber ensemble, jazz, and choral music, painting, creative writing, and acting with professional artists.

-attending world-class cultural events in Boston and the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts.

-focusing on their artistic development, finding new ways to engage Jewish life, and discovering the points where these two passions intersect.

In the Performance Camp for teen girls, campers have access to top notch musical facilities and instruments, lessons from professional musicians and time with visiting artists. Most importantly they have lots of time to collaborate with each other. Throughout the week campers work on the development and arrangement of original and cover tunes for the performance, with a band made up of other campers of their choice, on the final day of the camp.

IMA also offers a five day, pre-teen Explore Rock Camp and ten day Studio Recording and CD Production Program for girls and young women

The camp is located in scenic Goshen Massachusetts, just down the street from DAR State Forest. The girls are housed in yurts (large round tents with electricity), have access to private bathrooms and showers, excellent food, an array of electric and acoustic instruments and plenty of practice rooms.

ASA has been offering its outstanding University of Massachusetts-Amherst College Prep program since 1984. We provide hands-on enrichment and college credit courses such as psychology, writing, photography, SAT Prep with The Princeton Review, arts and tennis. Classes are kept to maximum of 12 students to ensure personalized attention and interaction. After classes, our team of dedicated resident assistants organize sports, arts and other fun activities. Students can also sign up for mini-clinics ranging from lifeguarding to leadership training. On weekends, there is a full schedule of trips to Boston, Cape Cod and Newport, as well as main attractions, museums, concerts, sports events. Students interested in learning more about college admissions can sign up for our counseling workshops and Boston college visits. ASA also offers College Prep programs at Oxford (UK), Emory University and UC-Berkeley; College Admissions programs at Columbia U, Tufts U and UC-Santa Barbara; and Study Abroad in Spain, France and Italy. A great introduction to our year- round program. This is a way for new and current students to make huge strides in the performance abilities. Students receive intensive individual and group lessons on the instrument of their choice. The program culminates in a live show. This is an ideal program for advanced beginners.

• Being grouped into a band of 3-5 musicians

• Performing at a show at a local rock venue!


This program is open to students ages 6-18

Drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, all studio arts including fashion and film making are available in an exciting seven week educational program for young women. Other campers can elect performing arts with classes in acting, Shakespeare and musical theater along with directing, writing and technical theater.Ballet, modern, jazz and tap are available with NYC faculty for girls with all levels of prior experience. Private singing, instrumental lessons, chamber music, chorus and
opera complete the performance program. Campers can balance their days with individual sports or focus on one or more arts programs.
