COURSES
DMA offers day and overnight courses in weekly and multi-week sessions for youth, age 7-18. DMA courses accommodate a wide variety of digital media interests in a more sophisticated learning environment than other summer computer camps. All courses are project based and taught by accomplished professionals who have a passion for inspiring young minds. An average student to instructor ratio of 6 to 1 allows for plenty of individual attention as students explore, create and immerse themselves in an environment that is more like a production studio than a classroom.

THE TEEN EXPERIENCE
DMA’s teen courses for 2009 include Robotics, Digital Filmmaking, 3D Animation, Web Production, Programming, and Music and Video Production - just to name a few.
Teens may commute or stay on campus in university housing. Separate DMA couselor staff live in the dorm coordinating evening and weekend activities while ensuring a fun and safe experience for everyone. Teens living on campus receive breakfast, lunch and dinner in a university dining hall. Commuting students may purchase a dining hall lunch pass or buy their own lunch at one of several restaurants on campus.

THE YOUTH EXPERIENCE
DMA’s 2009 youth courses (called Digital Media Adventures) include Robotics, Digital Filmmaking, Game Creation, Web Design & Flash, Cartoon & Comic Book Creation and Surfing & Filmmaking. To create a more balanced experience, we incorporate outdoor recreation breaks throughout the day – we beleive, like you, that kids should move! Additional activities, such as sports, board games and weekend adventures are offered to youth in our residential program.

2. Vertical Endeavors - If your child likes to climb, he or she will love Vertical Endeavors Indoor Rock Climbing Camp! Camp focuses on the the details of climbing- including knots, safety equipment and more!
Day Camp - Coed - Saint Paul, Minnesota

Vertical Endeavors Rock Climbing Camp offers children ages 8 to 17 the opportunity to learn proper climbing techniques in a controlled and fun atmosphere. Activities include toprope climbing, belaying, bouldering, knot tying, rappeling and climbing games. In addition to our focus on fun, all of our camps promote an awareness and an understanding of the importance of safety. Your child will leave camp with a sense of self-reliance and accomplishment, as well as a deeper respect for safety in the sport of rock climbing.

3. Menogyn Wilderness Camp YMCA - Whether this is your first or fourth summer traveling with us, you are about to start an adventure! The challenge of small group wilderness travel is as relevant for youth today as it was back then.
Travel Camp - Coed - Grand Marais, Minnesota

YMCA Camp Menogyn has an 86-year tradition of high-quality wilderness adventures within the beautiful Boundary Waters Canoe Area! Exciting activities such as canoeing, backpacking and rock climbing, all with an emphasis on personal growth, skill development and relationships provide campers with transformational experiences and memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.

Each camper is important to us. Trips are structured so that campers can enjoy themselves and participate regardless of their previous experience with outdoor & wilderness activities. Campers can expect to help in activities as varied as planning the trail route or preparing the food menu.

The small, single-gender groups of 3-6 campers with 1-2 trail counselors ensure special connections that result in mutual respect and support as they face a variety of challenges during their adventures.

4. North Woods Wilderness Adventures - Wilderness canoe treks that teach new skills and test limits! For ages 15-17: Voyageurs NP, July 6-11 and BWCA, August 1-6. For ages 12-14: Upper St. Croix, July 19-22 and Upper Mississippi River, July 25-29. Scholarships available.

The Audubon Center of the North Woods is a leader in offering meaningful nature experiences to people of all ages and through our NORTH WOODS WILDERNESS ADVENTURES, we provide a different kind of summer camp experience – an opportunity to engage teens in nature through a variety of outdoor activities that promote environmental awareness, compassion, leadership, teamwork and an ethic of care for the earth.

Live for adventure? Want to brave the waterways of the north? Join our North Woods Wilderness Adventures and explore Minnesota's most beautiful natural areas. Form bonds with fellow travelers, build strength and leadership, and learn canoeing and camping skills. Search for eagles, loons, otters, wolves, and other wildlife of the north. Learn the tips and tricks to enjoy a wilderness trek that will test your limits! First night is spent at the Audubon Center of the North Woods, remaining nights camping off-site.

Voyageurs National Park-

Explore the lakes, islands, and shorelines of Minnesota's only national park. This trip is designed for people with some canoeing experience. The first day we will go over the trip schedule and review canoeing and camping skills. After that, we will set out to explore the rarely touched areas of the nation’s most water based national park. Paddle, swim, relax, and experience a great north woods adventure!

St. Croix River-

The upper St. Croix River is home to rich wildlife and pristine waters. This nationally designated wild and scenic river is the perfect place to experience Minnesota’s wilderness. This trip is designed for people with little to no canoeing experience, so we'll start our first day learning the basics of canoeing and camping. After that, we’ll cast off to explore the waters and shorelines of this beautiful and dynamic river.

Mississippi River-

Embark on our journey near the headwaters of one of North America's greatest rivers, the Mississippi. This trip is designed for people with little to no camping experience, so we'll start our fist day learning the basics of canoeing and camping. After that we'll set off to test our paddling skills, enjoy the gentle current, and see the wild areas of this great river.

Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness-

The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is one of Minnesota's most majestic places with over 1.3 million acres of pristine lake and forests. We'll canoe and portage from lake to lake and explore part of the vast wilderness area while learning about the abundant wildlife. This trip is designed for people with some canoeing experience. We will spend our first day reviewing camping and canoeing skills and planning our route, then we'll set off on our expedition to the North Country.

5. YMCA Camp Widjiwagan - Widjiwagan YMCA wilderness adventures are offered starting at age 12 and progress through advanced 30-55 day invitational trips for 18 year olds. Respect for self, others, environment and equipment are core to the Widji way.
