1. Camp Voyageur - Adjoining the BWCAW, we specialize in wilderness canoe and hiking trips, but also offer in-camp land and water sports.

Camp Voyageur is a private camp for boys 9-17 founded by the Erdmann family in 1951. Ideally located next to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northeastern Minnesota, wilderness camping (canoeing, hiking and sea kayaking) is our speciality. In camp we have an extensive program of land sports: tennis, basketball, archery, volleyball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee plus water sports: sailing, water skiing, sailboarding, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and more. Campers enjoy other residential in camp activities such as fishing, arts/crafts, drama etc, and day trips rock climbing, hiking and canoeing. Camp Voyageur is fully accredited by the American Camping Association and we maintain a ratio of one well trained counselor to four boys. All counselors are at least in college, and many have graduated. Counselors who lead trips have current certification in CPR, Wilderness First Aid and Lifeguard Training. Our activities nurture self reliance and independence.

2. Swift Nature Camp - Swift Nature Camp is one of the few camps nationwide that combines traditional camp activities like Swimming, Horses and Canoe Trips along with a focus on Science and Nature. Our award-winning teaching staff is dedicated to unlocking nature's mysteries through FUN and hands-on discovery.

Swift Nature Camp is a small premier Wisconsin residential summer camp for Boys & Girls ages 6-15. SNC is located in the Northwoods of Wisconsin on a 1500 acre lake connected to a county forest, We combine traditional water & land activities along with hands on outdoor Nature Studies. Traditional Adventure camping activities include: Horses, Swimming, Scuba, Team Course, Sailing, Skiing, and much more. Above all else we have FUN. Best of all campers take out of camp canoe and backpack trips. Self-accomplishment is promoted in a noncompetitive and nurturing environment. Two counselors live in each cabin of 8-10 children, fostering cabin spirit, organizing trips and reading stories at night.

Programs are 2, 3 & 6 weeks. Plus a special First Timer Camp!

The Audubon Center of the North Woods is a leader in offering meaningful nature experiences to people of all ages and through our family and youth camps this summer, we will provide a different kind of summer camp experience – an opportunity to engage in nature through immersion in the wild outdoors to promote environmental awareness, compassion, leadership and an ethic of care for the earth.

This summer we are offering a variety of camp experiences for youth ages 9-16 years as well as a family outdoor skills camp. Accommodations for our on-site camps are in our Crosby Lodge or Lowry Lodge, which are dorm-style buildings. If you'd like more information, please call or email us.

Becoming an Outdoor Family... June 10-12, 2011
Bringing families and the outdoors together. Experts from both our staff and MN DNR teach variety of outdoor and recreational classes, such as archery, geocaching, fishing, survivor, high ropes, reptiles/amphibians, animal signs and aquatics. Geared towards families with children ages 6-18. Younger children are welcome to attend but will not be able to participate in classes.

Mix & Match Day Camp...June 20

Pick your mix of exciting adventure or wildlife activities! Choose from: Zipline, Climbing Wall, Canoeing, Survivor, Reptiles & Amphibians/Frog Hunt, Fishing, Animal Signs, Stream Superheroes/Aquatics.

Feathered Friends Day Camp...June 21
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For kids entering 1st to 4th grades
Celebrate our feathered friends by testing out their beaks and feet, experimenting with feathers, and joining a bird birthday party for the birds who live at the Audubon Center all year! Hand feed our crow and he may have some new talents to show us!

Forts, Fires & Fishing...........July 5-8
For kids entering 4th to 7th grades;
Spend a week learning how to survive in the woods. Start off the week learning fire-building basics, how to construct shelter, and where to find food in the wild. You’ll perfect fort- and firemaking skills, cook some meals over a fire, look for wild edibles, catch some fish, and spend a night under the stars. The week finishes with a fish fry for you and your family!
* Spin-cast fishing on Grindstone Lake & fly fishing at the Kettle River
* Build and sleep in an outdoor shelter one night
* Learn fire-building and outdoor cooking skills

The Ways of Wildlife........July 10-15
For kids entering 5th to 8th grades;
Help care for educational animals at the Center including frogs, snakes, turtle, and birds of prey! Learn the basics of animal training and wildlife rehab. Discover how telemetry and GPS are used in tracking wildlife. Enjoy swimming in Grindstone Lake and experiencing our high ropes course. Enjoy several great field trips and behind-the-scenes experiences at: a zoo, an overnight at the Great Lakes aquarium, the Wildlife Science Center, AND a veterinary clinic/wildlife rehabilitation center.

State Park Sampler........July 23-24
For kids entering 7th to 9th grades;
We travel to Tettegouche State Park, one of the area’s most beautiful. We’ll spend the day hiking and exploring the park’s unique features, camp overnight, and explore more state parks along the North Shore on the way back to the Center.

4. Vertical Endeavors - If your child likes to climb, he or she will love Vertical Endeavors Indoor Rock Climbing Camp! Camp focuses on the the details of climbing- including knots, safety equipment and more!

Vertical Endeavors Rock Climbing Camp offers children ages 8 to 17 the opportunity to learn proper climbing techniques in a controlled and fun atmosphere. Activities include toprope climbing, belaying, bouldering, knot tying, rappeling and climbing games. In addition to our focus on fun, all of our camps promote an awareness and an understanding of the importance of safety. Your child will leave camp with a sense of self-reliance and accomplishment, as well as a deeper respect for safety in the sport of rock climbing.

Each camper is important to us. Trips are structured so that campers can enjoy themselves and participate regardless of their previous experience with outdoor and wilderness activities. Campers can expect to help in activities as varied as planning the trail route or preparing the food menu.

The small, single-gender groups of 3 to 6 campers with 1 or 2 trail counselors ensure special connections that result in mutual respect and support as they face a variety of challenges during their adventures.

Positive Energy Outdoor (ed)Ventures day camps have a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 10 participants. Blake Cazier and Stephanie Love, your instructors, share over 40 years of combined outdoor education experience. Program fees include transportation, equipment and instruction.

All summer camps include meeting the draft `horses and sled dogs, kayaking, rock climbing, team building challenges, hiking/orienteering, swimming and
other camp activities.

The Youth Mushing Camp includes snowshoeing, horse drawn sleigh ride, winter camping/survival skills and ice safety.

Meet at Marshall School Parking Lot, 1215 Rice Lake Road, Duluth, at 8:30 am. Pick up campers at 4:30 pm. Program locations at Positive Energy Outdoor (ed)Ventures, 15 miles north of Duluth, and various Duluth sites; details provided in registration packet.

Bring a bag lunch, water bottle, sunscreen and raingear. Youth Mushing Camp has a separate clothing list and meets from 9 am – 4 pm. Enjoy a potluck and slideshow on the final day of each summer camp.

8. Minnesota Adventure Camp - Minnesota Adventure Camp is a leadership camp for boys ages 11-18 in northern Minnesota. It is full of adventure, adrenaline, and skill building opportunities.

Minnesota Adventure Camp is a camp for boys ages 11-18 that focuses on leadership and team building. It is an outdoor, hands-on, adventure camp. There are low and high elements, facilitation skills, initiatives, aquatics, sports, and much more. It is filled from sunrise to sunset with action, adventure, and team building. 9. YMCA Camp Widjiwagan - Widjiwagan YMCA wilderness adventures are offered starting at age 12 and progress through advanced 30-55 day invitational trips for 18 year olds. Respect for self, others, environment and equipment are core to the Widji way.
