Spend the summer with horses at a horseback riding camp. Learn Western and English style of riding, jumping, as well as vaulting (gymnastics on horseback). At some horse camps, participation in horse shows and competitions are common. Proper care for horses and trail riding are often integral activities at most equestrian summer camps.

1. YMCA Camp Ihduhapi - Join us at Camp Ihduhapi for daily adventures, learning lots of new skills and building lasting relationship! Campers will participate in several planned activity options each day. In addition, Wednesdays are Theme Days and every camper participates in an overnight tenting excursion.

Camp Ihduhapi has small, single-gender cabin groups of 8-10 campers and 2 cabin staff, which provides individual attention and positive, small-group dynamics. Program professionals assist in areas like waterfront, arts and crafts, health services, administration and much more. Our kitchen staff prides themselves on creating a well balanced and good tasting menu. A salad bar is provided at both lunch and dinner. Fresh fruit is offered each day. Campers eat family style as a cabin group.

2. Half Pint Horse Camp - Half Pint Horse Camp works with miniature horses primarily groundwork, grooming, obstacles, crafts and everything horse!

Summer camps with our mini horses consists of learning about horse safety, anatomy, behavior, training, leading the horses thorugh obstacles, grooming and general horse care, crafts and everything related to horses! Although our work is primarily done with mini horses, we will have hand led rides on a full size horse, too.

These camps are the major funding source for the year for all of our nursing home programs. No two camps are exactly alike, so sign up for more than one camp and support our mission!

3. Woodloch Stable Horse Camp - A 2 day or 7 day riding program with safety and fun learning

Experience what it is like to have a horse for a week. You will learn safety with horses as well as stuctured riding lessons and trail riding opportunties.

4. YMCA Camp Warren - Camp life at Warren is based on long-standing traditions dating back to 1927. A typical cabin group consists of 10 campers & two staff members. Progressive skill development in activities. Well balanced and good tasting menu offered.

At Camp Warren we believe that a session of camp can make a profound impact on a young person’s life. The Summer of 2012 is shaping up to be another fantastic year. I hope you’ll join us for at least one of our unique single-gender camp sessions.

While at Warren, campers have the opportunity to live independently in a supportive community where they can: meet new friends, try new activities, explore the natural world and gain self-reliance. Activities are designed with skill progression in mind but in a non-competitive atmosphere. For over 80 years, our well trained, energetic staff team (most of whom were once campers themselves) has provided the environment to foster this growth.

5. Camp Featherbrook Farm - Camp Featherbrook is a wonderful place for your child to experience fun and horse adventures this summer!

Camp Featherbrook is a camp packed full of exciting and structured activities for the new and returning camper. Located on 34 acres just minutes from Plymouth, MN, campers age 6 and up learn horsemanship as they build self-esteem, learn new skills, and practice the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Each year, every child leaves with a special hand-made craft to mark their accomplishments and treasured experiences.
Camp Featherbrook offers riding twice a day, immersion, fundamentals and foundation of horsemanship, games, crafts, horse grooming, horse anatomy, basic horsemanship skills, horse and stable safety, first aid, farm life and making new friends.

6. Golden Ridge Stables Summer Adventure Day Camp - Calling all Horse Lovers! We offer quality lessons for youth and ladies on well mannered school horses. At our awesome day camp, each child participates in fun activities with individual attention and structured riding lessons.

Calling all Horse Lovers! Golden Ridge Stables in Lakeville, Minnesota is offering a completely new day camp designed to create lasting memories for your child. Your child will discover how to safely work with their horse on the ground as well as on its back in a “hands and seat on” environment. Golden Ridge Camp gives each child individual attention, structured riding lessons, and campers learn fascinating facts about their horse. We ride rain or shine in our safe, clean indoor facility. Awesome activities include an “Amazing Race”, Paint-A-Pony, and creative crafts. Each rider goes home with a treasured keepsake, t-shirt and a life long love for horses!

Participants are required to wear jeans and boots; riders will not be allowed to ride in tennis shoes. Helmets provided. Bring water and a snack. Before and after care is available for an additional nominal fee.

7. HHH Ranch Summer Day Camp - Kids at HHH Ranch's day camps will each have their own horse for the week and will learn how to safely care for and ride those horses.

The horses at HHH Ranch are waiting to meet you this summer! Each participant in our day camps will have their own horse for the week long session running Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm. Boys and girls 8 to 13 years old will have fun learning to safely care for and ride their horse. Riding will be mostly western w/ some bareback riding not only in an enclosed area but also on our wonderful trails including a picnic stop at least one day on the trail. There will be fun activities including games, obstacles, horse painting, arts & crafts, etc. $25 discount for early registration! Keep us in mind for lessons, leases, trail rides or customized programs for 4H, GSC or BSA merit badge requirements as well.

8. Sunborn Stables Summer Day Camp - A fun-filled day camp proving students with a quality equestrian experience.

Campers will spend their time learning all about horses. Each day provides a short lecture followed by 3 1/2 hours of horse exposure time. Campers will learn dressage riding, jumping, grooming, tacking, care, feeding, stable management skills and more. They will also be introduced to vaulting. Camp is half a day, but can be extended to full day for a small additional fee.

9. Erik's Ranch & Retreat's Summer Horseback Riding Camp - Whether you’re a novice, expert or perhaps somewhere in between – come enjoy a week (or more) of exciting activities centered around horses - English and Western style of riding, grooming tips, lunging and tacking, and a whole lot more.

Our trainers

With over 40 years combined experience, our highly qualified trainers, Sophia Nordberg and Brandon Pribula, bring years of riding and training knowledge as well as their passion for helping children further develop and enhance their riding skills to camp. Sophia spent eight years in saddle seat competitions, two and a half years jumping and is also experienced in Western riding. Brandon calls on his experience in Western riding disciplines such as reining, as well as English techniques such as dressage to teach his students. Both are active trainers in Erik’s Ranch & Retreat’s riding programs for individuals with special needs.

12. Bunker Park Stable - Enjoy a safe and fun summer riding experience.

This is the safest and most comprehensive horse program available. Each student is responsible for a horse throughout their days at camp. Campers may have the opportunity to participate in varied phases of horsemanship, including: western, driving, trail, horse safety, horse care and more! With an emphasis on safety, campers are supervised in structured lessons, discussions, demonstrations, trail and/or arena rides. A good portion of each day is spent on horseback.

13. Ox Yoke Stable's Crazy About Horses Day Camp - Learn all about how to properly care for & ride a horse as well as how to deal with their individual personalities.

A complete hands and seat on experience will be given to all in English &/or Western riding. Come and meet Peanut Butter Cup, Pal Pony, Lyle and the "Mystery Horse" who will all be a part of the program, as well as many other horses who make Ox Yoke their home. You will be leading, grooming, tacking & riding as well as learning all kinds of interesting and fun things about horses. Also, the different styles of riding and the clothing we wear and why. Everyone will get the book "Happy Horsemanship" which we will be using as beginner's handbook. Also included is a camp T-Shirt.

We are a real farm, so we also have chickens, turkies, cows and even a couple of pigs. There is also a hay swing in our dairy barn to swing on and a few cats to pet.

The camp will be taught and completely supervised by the Owner/Instructor/Trainer of Ox Yoke Stables, Natalie Kerber. She has 33 years of experience working with horses and is a graduate of the "Horse Care & Stable Operation program thru Hennepin Technical Centers.

There will be experienced adult &/or mature high school or college assistants to help with the participants and their horses.

14. Skyrock Farm - Come to Skyrock and have a great time with friends learning all about horses and riding everyday! When the weather is bad we ride inside!

During the five-day camp, campers are instructed in riding fundamentals. Campers learn horse care, nutrition, safety and the responsibilities of caring for, riding and owning a horse.

Students learn safety while on and off the horse. In addition to a daily riding lesson, the day campers care for their horses hands on by grooming, watering and feeding. Each Skyrock camper learns to halter, lead, groom, saddle and bridle a horse as well as how to bathe and safely graze a horse.

When possible, Skyrock campers watch the farrier and veterinarian at work, take a field trip, or best of all with nature willing, watch one of our mares deliver her foal. There is always something fun and new to learn each day.

DAY CAMP
Day camp runs from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Tuition is $250 per camper. Camp is open to boys and girls ages 8 and up. We concentrate mostly on RIDING in English or western saddles with time allowed to make a craft or enjoy a swim at the end of the day if it is hot. Camps are kept small to allow maximum instruction and time with the horses. Campers must bring their own sack lunch and drink.



OVERNIGHT CAMP
Overnight camp runs from 3:00 p.m. Sunday through 3:00 p.m. Friday. Camp is open to boys and girls ages 9-14. Tuition includes a Camp Toad T-shirt, water bottle, crafts, lodging, and meals. Overnight campers enjoy a luau, awesome crafts, scavenger and treasure hunts on horseback, and a night ride. We have a Camp Store where campers can purchase clothing and snacks. Campers can deposit money in their store account when they arrive.

16. Camp Olson YMCA - Camp Olson YMCA,an ACA accredited camp, is located in North Central Minnesota and offers traditional camp programs for youth ages 8-16 and specializes in sailing, horseback riding and leadership programs.

Camp Olson YMCA - Youth and Family Camps

Camp Olson YMCA has been serving youth and families from Minnesota and beyond for over 50 years. Camp Olson is an inspiring place with over 1250 acres bordering five lakes. The spirit of Camp Olson is always alive in the songs we sing, the evenings spent around campfires on star filled nights and the sound of laughter that abounds every day. Camp Olson prides itself on having an excellent caring and committed staff with an overall ratio of one staff member for every four campers. Camp Olson has a variety of traditional camp programs for youth ages 8-17 and specializes in sailing, horseback riding and leadership programs. Camp Olson is located in Longville, MN and chartered coach transportation is available for each session with pick up and drop off at the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport making it easy for your camper to get to camp.
