Spend the summer with horses at a horseback riding camp. Learn Western and English style of riding, jumping, as well as vaulting (gymnastics on horseback). FOR KIDS ONLY...keep reading! Everything you want from a summer camp is at Fairview Lake YMCA. When you sign up for our traditional sleep away camp, you get to make your own schedule and choose the activities you like most! Our great activities include windsurfing/sailing, archery, arts & crafts, canoeing, rock climbing, dance, drama, in-line skating, kayaking, high and low-ropes courses, snorkeling, street hockey, swimming, voice, guitar, and of course tons of other sports options. We also have a horseback riding camp and other specialty camps for tennis, fine arts, sailing/windsurfing. Some of these specialty camps are only for boys and others are only for girls. If you are the adventurous type, you might want to sign up for one of our challenging adventure trips where you can do some real rock climbing, backpacking, canoeing safaris, fishing, biking or cave exploring.

We have over 600 acres of forests and fields, a 70,000-acre national park in our backyard and a mile-long beautiful lake for you to explore. Our kids and counselors come from all over the world. For more than 50 years, summers at Appel Farm have sparked the imaginations of thousands of young people as they interacted with artists from around the world in a beautiful part of rural southern New Jersey. Safety, community, personal growth, and fun have always guided our program and continue to ensure that every child experiences a summer that will last a lifetime. Our dynamic learning program, with classes in music, theater, dance, visual arts, photography, video, recording arts, and creative writing, sports and swim, places emphasis on the creative process, hands-on learning and collaborative projects as campers work toward performances and exhibitions for their families to enjoy at the end of each session. With a balanced schedule of classes, free-time, workshops, trips, campfires, performances and special events, summers at Appel Farm are full of fun!

Most of our campers, boys and girls age 9-17, attend for 4 weeks, though a two-week session is a great way to try out camp for the first time. Sessions can be combined in order to stay for 6 or 8 weeks. With only two opening days, campers start together for each set of sessions.

3. Catch A Breeze Farm - Our riding program is for children from the age of 7 to 16, for the first time beginner to the competitive equestrian. Your child will be placed in a group by age and ability and will advance individually within the group.

Your children will learn to ride and care for horses in a safe and fun atmosphere. They will enjoy two riding lessons a day, a hands on lesson daily learning such things as grooming, saddling English, saddling western, lunging, etc., they will also take care of their horses learning the feeding program

Campers learn basic safety, equine grooming, and barn management skills.

They ride 2 times daily, either in lessons, on trail rides, or in a lunging session.

In addition, campers receive a daily lesson in one of our many different programs including cart driving, equine breeds, equine health, and other exciting horsemanship topics.

Fridays is gymkhana games in the morning and pizza for lunch, parents are welcomed to observe.

Longacre Expeditions offers some of the most unique multi-sport adventures in the industry for Student Grades 5-12. Ice climbing and Eco-Service in Iceland. Surfing and Caving in Costa Rica/Panama. Falconry and Surfing in Ireland. Mountaineering and Leadership training in Colorado and Alaska. Sailing and snowboarding in The Pacific Northwest. Schooner sailing and sea kayaking in Maine. 5. Palermo Show Stable - Is your kid horse crazy? Students receive daily instruction on riding, horse care, and other valuable information.

Throughout our summer camp sessions, students
receive daily riding instruction along with dismounted
lessons on veterinary care, nutrition, and other equine
related topics. Campers will actually feed and care for
their assigned horse with their partners. The campers
will also learn from a farrier and watch a horse being
shod. We also provide stabling to those participants
with their own horse and equipment (Normal boarding
rates apply).
When not mounted or involved in horse care, children
will participate in arts and crafts, as well as games and
activities relating to the horse. Palermo also provides
an extensive video library for viewing during camp, plus
a large book/magazine library. Afternoons are spent
eating lunch, making crafts, and playing on our child
size course of horse jumps. In the event of rain, all
activities will be held in our indoor arena.
Week 1: (3 days) Tuesday, June 29 - Thursday, July 1
Week 2: (4 days) Tuesday, August 3 - Friday, August 6
Our Youth Camp sessions are open to children ages 3-5
between the hours of 9am-12pm.
