The scope of art summer camps can vary tremendously: some art camps focus on a particular modality while others may offer a wide variety of art forms to engage such as: fine arts, dance, theatre, music, visual art, photography, creative writing, etc. While instruction and attention to technique are normally offered at an art camp, the joy of creation is often the emphasized and embraced.

Journey Into the FUNtastic!

Our recipe for a Tate's Day Camp FUNtastic summer combines a dynamic staff and energetic campers with a 52-acre campus that includes three swimming pools, multipurpose court, outdoor amphitheater, game fields, pond, miniature golf, climbing tower, archery range, woods and log buildings. Some activities have age requirements and instructional swimming is included for children ages 3-8. Hold on tight, the FUN is just beginning!

AT A GLANCE

Discovery Camp ages 3-6 A unique environment created precisely for our youngest campers. Children are placed into specific groups based on age/grade and participate in many camp activities under the close supervision of our nurturing counselors. The low camper-to-counselor ratio ensures that all campers receive the support and assurance they need for a successful camp experience. All campers must be completely potty trained and at least age three by June 1. A sampling of activities includes swim instruction, arts and crafts, sing-alongs, sandbox play, outdoor games, nature activities, and story times. Children entering the first grade also have the opportunity to go boating.

Explorer Camp ages 7-10 Explorer campers are always looking for fun and challenging experiences, and we provide it! Campers are grouped by grade level with rising second and third graders together and rising fourth and fifth graders together. Excellent counselor role models provide supervision, guidance and encouragement. Due to the large variety of activities, explorer campers often get to choose their activities. Some of the activities include swimming, arts and crafts, archery, boating, nature study, group initiatives, outdoor games, sports and more. Rising fourth graders and older have opportunities to participate on the climbing tower.

Adventure Camp ages 11-13 The ultimate in middle school based camping. There are plenty of activities that vary by week including woodworking, drama, challenge games, sports, camp crafts, the climbing tower, wilderness survival skills and other options, but what really makes adventure camp so popular is the group bonding time, peer relationships and camaraderie with staff. Under the leadership of active staff role models, adventurers are a tight knit team and thrive on getting to choose their groups based on the weekly activities.

Counselor-In-Training ages 14-15 This leadership training program incorporates real life work experience into a fun and energetic camp environment. Through hands-on work, team building and problem solving, CITs learn life skills that they will keep forever. For complete CIT literature and registration information please contact the camp office.

Children will learn about farm life…where real food comes from & how it grows. Garden games and work are apart of our fun and accomplishments. They will work with large and small animals…understanding what it takes & how to care for them. We play games, have races and the teams compete against each other. Each camper rides horses each day and learns all about horse care. Campers will be a member of a farm family team in which they will have responsibilities. Tap Root Summer Farm Camp is about young people taking an opportunity to get back in touch with themselves. The pace of the world slows down, they will have time to share and experience nature’s reality, every moment is NOT booked with entertainment but through being surrounded by creation and all of its purpose, we learn more about ourselves and our purpose.
