Whether it's science, language, computers, or environmental/nature studies; academic summer camps provide an environment conducive to learning across various subject matter or disciplines. Some academic camps provide a fixed location and concentrate on a single field of study, while other summer programs cover a more diverse range of study topics and may travel or embark upon relevant field trips.

1. American Red Cross Utah High School Leadership Development Camp (LDC) - Our High School Leadership Development Camp put on the by the American Red Cross Utah Region and is often said to be one of the most incredible experiences of the participants lives!
Resident Camp
Coed
Salt Lake City, Utah

LDC is for youth who are currently in 9th, 10th or 11th grades and is for Utah residents only. It is a camp for kids who are looking to improve their leadership skills no matter what their current level. The camp will be the third week in June 2012 and lasts from Monday-Friday. We focus on developing leadership through learning your own values, recognizing the diversity and value of diversity in others, and being part of your community and your world. Getting outside of your comfort zone is the name of the name of the game. All applicants are interviewed and selected based on their willingness to try new things and be involved. The curriculum and schedule are not made known to participants... its all a big surprise and trust me this is very important to how powerful camp is. Return participants have this to say:

"If this camp taught me anything it's that great minds don't think alike they think for themselves." -Conner

"LDC blew me away. I have never felt such a loving and caring atmosphere or environment. It made me feel like I was a person that was cared for and loved. I would trade the rest of my summer for one more day at LDC." -Chris

"LDC 2011 was a life changing experience!! It made me realize who I really am and what my values really are. I will take everything I learned from the speakers, staff, and delegates and apply it in my daily life from this point on! This was probably the greatest experience I have ever had and I wouldnt trade the time I spent towards making soo many new friends and learning soo many amazing life lessons for anything in the world. Thank you all soo much for such an amazing experience! " -Anthony

"I will never forget this week or the people I met!! Most life changing week of my life! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!" -Callie
