Welcome to Summer Camps on the River 2009 where Great journeys begin at the River!

Christchurch School offers fun, engaging, and enriching programs that cultivate the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our campers.

With four fun filled weeks, campers will discover what is in and around the water that surrounds the campus. Perched atop a hill, in historic Middlesex County, overlooking the majestic waters of the Rappahannock River, Christchurch School has been helping youth begin their journey for the past 90 years.

Your camper will live in an air conditioned dormitory room supervised by our highly trained staff. Each hall will house 20 campers (double room occupancy) and 3 counselors, with a staff to camper ratio of 1 to 7. You can be assured your camper's physical and emotional safety is our top priority.

During the day, your camper will enjoy their chosen discipline of sailing, crew, marine science, or fishing with other campers who have chosen the same activity. New this year, you may choose to do all 4 with our Chesapeake Sampler Camp. In the evening, campers will enjoy traditional camp activities like camp fires, field games, talent show, or end of the week dance.

Summer Camps on the River prides itself on helping campers connect with the community around them. Every day campers will grow in independence and better understanding of the role they play in the camp community. This is done through hands-on interactions with coaches, teachers, counselors, and other campers. Campers discover the world around them and the impact they have on that community, through a greater understanding of environmental impacts and character development.

Outstanding camps at the exceptional grounds and facilities of the University of Virginia for boys and girls ages 10 - 18 of all ability levels. All of our academic enrichment programs at the offer a summer filled with fun, stimulating classes and new friendships. Each program includes as a part of the program all evening and weekend activities. Our excellent reputation has been on people and programs that ensure at safe, fun, and exciting summer experience, "summers that last a lifetime." Choose from a variety of courses or SAT Prep or American Studies.

Our mission in the Academic Program is to help provide students with the type of experience and mentoring which will foster the personal growth. Academics is a particularly outstanding strength of our camp. Instructors are experienced secondary school teachers, advanced graduate students and other professionals in their fields, hired for their expertise and dedication to young people. Classes are small stress personal interaction between students and teachers.

4 Star Golf -- Developed and refined over the years by a staff of PGA pros and our own golf professionals, 4 Star Camps has created the total summer golf program second to none. We combine the best of supervision with quality instruction and fun, non-golf activities to provide an unforgettable summer experience.

4 Star Tennis -- Improve your tennis skills or begin to play the game in our nationally renowned Tennis Camps. Small group instruction plus private lessons along with a singles and doubles development program helps all levels achieve their tennis goals.

4 Star Tennis PLUS Golf -- Players attend ½ day of Tennis Camp PLUS ½ day of Golf in a fun and friendly format.

This summer, Longwood University is offering athletic camps in baseball, boy's and girl's basketball, field hockey, girl's residential soccer and boy's/girl's commuter soccer, softball, and tennis and three golf clinics. The Longwood summer camp program is designed for kids of all levels to learn and have fun. Whether you characterize yourself as a beginner of advanced player, Longwood's summer camp is a place where you belong. The coaches of each sport are winners on and off the field and will offer an experience like no other. They have excelled individually in their respective sports and coached some very successful players, even a few who became professional athletes.

Each camper will recieve an american red cross whale's tales water safety badge.

Lunch is offered daily for $5

Each camper will learn specific sports skills through creative game play

With over 1,800 career victories and numerous national awards and championships, our coaching staff has achieved the highest forms of success. Recently, we cheered on our 13 olympians at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Come learn the game from your favorite coaches as they pass along their secrets that have made their teams so successful. Our coaching staff is energetic and anxious to pass along their love for the game.
