1. Gage Academy of Art
- Visual Arts for youth! Kids & Teen weekly art focused workshops, plus 4-week, focused Teen Intensive Day Camp - Coed - Seattle, Washington
Gage Academy of Art Youth Programs are dedicated to providing traditional and innovative visual arts education for all youth. We believe early training in the arts transforms an individual's capacity for creativity, compassion and cultural awareness.
Kids weekly workshops include visual art and performance art. Hands-on projects and on-on-one instruction help kids learn to use their creative energy to see, move and create like an artist.
Kids ages 6 to 11 use their imaginations to try out new ideas as they learn about the elements of art. Usual kids classes include instruction in Comics, Improv, Printmaking, Dance, Drawing, Game Design, Painting, Hip Hop, Mixed Media, Clay, Drumming, and Mask making.
Teen weekly workshops include classes in both visual and applied art, where professional-artist instructors work with students one-on-one to push their skill levels and unlock their creativity as they work with the essential elements of art.
Teens ages 12 to 17 sharpen their creative skills with time-tested artistic methods, using their own ideas as they investigate their own unique artistic style. Typical Teen classes include Watercolor Illustration, Figure Drawing, Mixed-Media Sculpture, Abstract Painting, Do-It-Yourself Design, Fantasy Drawing, Printmaking, Figure Painting, Paper Construction, Portrait Sculpting, Portrait Drawing, Cartooning, Installation and Mosaic Portraits.
Teen Intensive NEW!
Being part of a vibrant artistic community is both inspiring and stimulating. The Gage four-week, certificate program provides a balance of focused, serious, challenging classes while maintaining a structure that fosters independence and promotes creative expression. This is perfect for students preparing to attend an art college.
The Intensive imparts a strong foundation in core areas along with conceptual art classes and art history to complement studio work in an art school environment. In addition, students participate in weekly peer and instructor critiques to cultivate artistic expression; make use of local resources including guided visits to Seattle Asian Art Museum, painting excursions on Volunteer Park and access to the Gage Academy of Art Belyea library.
Teens ages 15 to 18 study under the direction of professional artist-instructors who provide clear instruction in the techniques of their medium & subject. The Teen Intensive provides focused instruction in Color & Composition, Figure Drawing, Landscape in Watercolor, Life Drawing, Mixed Media Installation, Portrait Drawing, Portrait Sculpting and Printmaking.
