SummerTYME Camps is a program of the TYME OUT Youth Center, a non-profit retreat center founded in 1980. For more than fifteen years, SummerTYME Camps have brought kids from diverse backgrounds together to a safe and fun environment about 30 miles outside Milwaukee. Our camps provide middle school youth (entering grades 6-9) with a six-day, five-night residential camp experience. SummerTYME Camps create an environment which fosters Character, Confidence and Community through focused, themed instruction (by coordinators who are experts in their field) as well as recreational activities. Our belief is that a child who wants to come to camp should have the opportunity; no child should be turned away because of financial limitations. Stevens Point, Wisconsin

Celebrating a 50+ year tradition…untraditionally!

Join Us! Camp COFAC is an intensive music immersion experience at UW-Stevens Point, offered by the College of Fine Arts & Communication (COFAC). The camp is open to students entering grades 9 - 12, as well as graduating seniors. The camp is directed by Mathew Buchman of the UWSP Department of Music and is held June 24 - 30, 2012. The week culminates in a concert on Saturday, June 30.

Immerse Yourself! Unlike any music camp in the state, our program is designed to give students an immersion experience by providing concentrated study on their primary instrument (or “major”) for a minimum of four hours per day. Students select their “major” for the week: voice, piano, violin, double bass, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, horn, oboe, flute, saxophone, clarinet, percussion/drumset, or composition! Activities will include daily master classes, warm-up exercises, group lessons, chamber ensembles, supervised practice time, opera and musical theatre scene workshops (vocalists only), and reed fixing class (clarinet and saxophone).

We’re Serious. Are You? Our mission is to develop and nurture young musicians by helping them discover new literature, techniques, and ideas while fostering confidence and enthusiasm. Instructors are comprised entirely of UWSP Faculty/Artists to ensure the best possible learning environment for students who are serious about music. No other camp in the state is exclusively staffed with resident university faculty. Expand your knowledge and understanding of music, develop long-lasting friendships and explore the vibrant university community of UW-Stevens Point. Whether you are an instrumentalist, a vocalist, a composer, or all three, Camp COFAC is the place to be this summer.

One more reason to choose Camp COFAC at UW-Stevens Point!
In Tune Magazine, a publication of the National Association for Music Education, has included UW-Stevens Point in its "Best Music Schools 2011 Special Report" (October 2010), which lists UWSP among the top 43 music schools in the country that have achieved technological innovations in their curricula. UWSP is in exalted company; other schools on the list include The Juilliard School, Oberlin Conservatory, and Northwestern University.
