Come enjoy a summer of awesome science, big ideas, creativity, and imagination! We’ll have fun with lots of hands-on science activities and making cool things. We’ll take a look at how everyday objects work. We’ll also learn about how to exercise our bodies and minds to decrease stress and improve focus using the inner science of Yoga.
Hands-On Science – Have fun being creative, innovative, natural inventors – all while exploring science and technology in a supportive environment. We’ll have fun designing, building, and playing with cool things.
Daily Yoga – Children have fun exercising, while striking poses and practicing mindfulness. Yoga provides an excellent way for children to relax, bolster self-esteem and improve self-discipline.
Jurassic Journey | June 29th – July 3rd
Transport back in time to the prehistoric Jurassic period. Pick, shake and discover precious gems and dinosaur DNA. Explore the science of genetics, the food chain and the importance of a clean environment. Herbivores, carnivores and omnivores – Learn exciting facts about them all and create your own!
Crazy Kitchen Concoctions | July 6th – July 10th
Experiment with unique mixtures and create explosive reactions! Discover fun, new uses for everyday kitchen items. Learn about the power of herbs and essential oils. Use the science of chemistry to make an environmentally-friendly cleaning solution. Make and name your own personal cologne or perfume!
Bricks and Go-Go Bots | July 13th – July 17th
Investigate the world of engineering while building a wide range of contraptions with LEGO® bricks. See how engineering can make everything awesome! Use detailed blueprints and instructions to design, build and enhance incredible miniature and large battery-powered vibrobot creations.
Bugged Out | July 20th – July 24th
Bugs, bugs and more bugs! Grab your magnifying glass and put on your investigative hat. Learn how insects interact with the world around them. Use dissection to find out what makes them tick. Discover the amazing strength of ants. Study and learn about the importance of honeybees. Use beeswax and honey to make your own lip balm!
The Incredible Human Body | July 27th – July 31st
Investigate the five senses and beyond, through crazy experiments and fun exercises. Learn exactly where farts and burps come from. Use dissection to look inside a real eye and a heart! See how much we’re alike and what makes you, you. Learn about traditional medicine from around the world and how to use some of the tools doctors and nurses use!
The Science of Art | August 3rd – August 7th
Design and build your own works of art from junk and all sorts of odds and ends. Paint, cut, sculpt, glue and craft your own masterpieces, while examining the science behind it all. Dive into the science behind pigments, enhance your works with motion and magnetism, modify designs with heat, and alter shapes and patterns with pressure!
The Science of Magic | August 10th – August 14th
Make potions, create lightening, watch colors morph, levitate metal, mix magic sand, perform impossible tricks with balloons and food, practice card tricks and more! Get up close with the science behind eye-popping magic tricks, using misdirection and slight of hand. Have fun experimenting with optical illusions and learn how to make your own!
The Art and Science of Yoga | August 17th – August 21st
Bending, twisting and balancing is not all yoga is about. There’s so much more! Use teamwork to create giant mandalas, enjoy tasty flavors of tea during daily tea meditation, create a mindfulness journal, design your own yoga mat, experience the power of sound, learn ways to improve endurance in sports, and discover fun tools to help keep you calm and cool.
