COURSES
DMA offers day and overnight courses in weekly and multi-week sessions for youth, age 7-18. DMA courses accommodate a wide variety of digital media interests in a more sophisticated learning environment than other summer computer camps. All courses are project based and taught by accomplished professionals who have a passion for inspiring young minds. An average student to instructor ratio of 6 to 1 allows for plenty of individual attention as students explore, create and immerse themselves in an environment that is more like a production studio than a classroom.

THE TEEN EXPERIENCE
DMA’s teen courses for 2009 include Robotics, Digital Filmmaking, 3D Animation, Web Production, Programming, and Music and Video Production - just to name a few.
Teens may commute or stay on campus in university housing. Separate DMA couselor staff live in the dorm coordinating evening and weekend activities while ensuring a fun and safe experience for everyone. Teens living on campus receive breakfast, lunch and dinner in a university dining hall. Commuting students may purchase a dining hall lunch pass or buy their own lunch at one of several restaurants on campus.

THE YOUTH EXPERIENCE
DMA’s 2009 youth courses (called Digital Media Adventures) include Robotics, Digital Filmmaking, Game Creation, Web Design & Flash, Cartoon & Comic Book Creation and Surfing & Filmmaking. To create a more balanced experience, we incorporate outdoor recreation breaks throughout the day – we beleive, like you, that kids should move! Welcome to Precollege Summer Camps at NYU's School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS). Students find themselves in the ideal environment to make lasting connections with industry professionals and to form friendships with interesting peers from all over the world.

NYU-SCPS Summer Camps are designed to provide a deeply enriching, intense period of study in subjects that fire the imagination while instilling confidence and pride by engaging fully in the creative process, from taking on artistic challenges to thoughtful and strategic problem solving. Students will develop expertise in a new or existing area of interest. NYU will provide a unique learning experience that is both fun and social, stimulating and purposeful. This workshop will provide participants a perfect environment, where through hands on experience, they learn the techniques of video production as a method of self expression while in a diverse environment with other participants from different cultural backgrounds. In 2009, given the theme, "Japan in New York", each group will explore aspects of Japanese culture and business in New York, which will afford participants the opportunity to learn about cross-cultural communication and diverse aspects of New York. Participants will take English as a Second Language (ESL) or Japanese as a Second Language (JSL) classes. They will learn their target languages and have opportunities to use those languages through various activities and dormitory life. There will also be many activities lined up, such as computer music creation, dance, cross-cultural events, field trips to Broadway musical, etc.

Each summer, New York Film Academy Summer Camps give hundreds of high school students an unforgettable and transformative experience in Filmmaking, Acting and 3-D Animation. The New York Film Academy high school camps are designed for students with little or no previous filmmaking, acting or animation experience. They are hands-on intensive workshops that fully immerse students in the craft of writing, directing, casting, shooting, acting in, editing, and animating their own films.

The New York Film Academy is honored to be the film school of choice of many Hollywood filmmakers and their families, including the son of Steven Spielberg, the son of former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan and the sister of director Luc Besson (Fifth Element, La Femme Nikita).

We have chosen some of the most prestigious and inspiring locations in the world to hold our camps including, The Dalton School in New York City, Universal Studios in Los Angeles, Oxford University in England, Disney-MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida; Harvard and Princeton Universities, Paris, France; and Florence, Italy.

We offer 1, 3, 4 and 6-week filmmaking, acting and 3-D animation workshops.

The camps at each location are closely supervised while providing a nurturing environment that encourages students to take creative risks. As part of the camp experience, students take part in a range of extracurricular activities and field trips particular to each location.

Students reside in dormitories, resort hotels, and residential apartment complexes depending on the location. Dining facilities are offered at all of our U.S. locations; at our overseas locations, our students choose from local eateries and may cook their own meals. Housing is either on campus or conveniently located to our classroom facilities.

Quality adult supervision of the New York Film Academy high school camps is our highest concern. All of our workshops are fully supervised. Our counselors are 21 years and older, and many have their undergraduate degrees in filmmaking or acting. Counselors reside in the dormitories or in the hotel rooms adjacent to the students depending on the location.

"Come Home to Camp;" this is the heart of the Onyahsa experience- for the new camper or the veteran alumnus. Since its inception well over a century ago, YMCA Camp Onyahsa has been a refuge for youth and families. Then as now, it offers security, authenticity, peace, and exciting fun; as necessary today as ever. In a beautiful wooded setting, on the edge of the lake, we don't only enjoy recreation; we aim to "re-create" in the Great Outdoors.

Celebrating its 107th year in 2005, Camp Onyahsa offers an exciting, genuine, and rewarding experience for any camper. Nestled in its own wooded bay on northern Chautauqua Lake, we offer traditional camp sessions, specialty camps, academic programs, teen activities, leadership development programs, extensive waterfront classes, outdoor environmental education, and much more. Each of our weeks has a fun and educational theme as the focus of its activities, and is implemented by caring, committed and competent staff members.

Campers live in rustic single-sex, age-graded cabins, tents, or cab-ents (cabin-tents) under the supervision of carefully selected and trained staff members. The Camp's directors and health staff also reside on site, and provide 24 hour per day supervision, and the Camp has a staff to camper ratio of at least 1:8.

All campers participate together in our special activities, such as campfires, skits, Club Time, theme nights, Olympic games, village nights, and other all-camp programs. Meanwhile, through age-group cabin and tent living with their adult counselors, campers learn as members of small groups to share and live cooperatively. The activities and living areas are staffed with well-qualified and highly committed counselors, who share the goal of making a stay at Onyahsa a truly rewarding experience for all members of the Camp Community.

The Onyahsa mission is to foster the healthy Spiritual, Intellectual, and Physical well-being of Camp Participants from diverse backgrounds within a nurturing outdoor environment, while creating a meaningful sense of Community among them through an active learning experience.
