INTRO TO DISCOVERY CAMP - Ages 5 to 10

Specially designed for children new to the overnight camp experience, Intro to Discovery Camp is a shorter, scaled-down version of a traditional week-long Discovery Camp session. This allows children to build confidence and independence while developing an appreciation of the natural world through science education, exploration, and the traditional fun of summer camp. This summer, we’re offering both three- and four-night introductory options. These sessions do not feature offsite adventure days or wilderness camping (but, weather permitting, there will be an outdoor on-site camping experience!)

DAY CAMP - Ages 5 to 12

Our popular Day Camp provides hours of non-stop science, adventure and fun each summer weekday.
Each week, this completely original program features a different science-based theme that speaks to the minds and imaginations of young campers. At KSS, your child can transform into a pirate, superhero, astronaut, or botanist— complete with costumes, hands-on activities, and outdoor adventures. We incorporate creative activities, teambuilding, and investigative learning into each day.

COUNSELOR ASSISTANT PROGRAM (C.A.P.) – Ages 14 to 17

The CAP program offers teens the opportunity to serve as role models, develop as leaders, and make a difference in the lives of others. ‘CAPs’ take part in all aspects of the Discovery Camp program: Activity implementation, organizing campers, and participating in special leadership programs tailored just for them. This is a very popular program and we take great pride in our CAPs. Several of our counselors began their camp journeys as CAPs!

KEYSTONE MOUNTAIN ADVENTURES (KMA) - Ages 14 to 17

These longer, expedition-based sessions offer teens nonstop action and outdoor adventure. Exploration, hands-on education, and leadership development come together for a once-in-a-lifetime Rocky Mountain experience. Sessions range from two ten-day trips to an extended thirteen-day adventure. Participants will explore high-altitude Colorado by land, water, rope and rock. Team-building activities and low-impact wilderness travel principles are incorporated as we backpack through mountain landscapes, camp along the edge of wild rivers, and safely scale dramatic rock faces, learning about alpine weather and fire ecology as we go. Trip highlights include a professionally-guided whitewater rafting trip, soaking in hot springs, and an attempt at summiting one of Colorado’s mighty peaks.

So choose your adventure and experience the best Colorado has to offer with Keystone Science School!

"I had such an amazing time. I don't think my friends will quite believe me or grasp the immensity of my experience." Baldwin, Little Rock, Arkansas

Inspiring journeys for young adults in the American Southwest and Costa Rica. A mature and experienced staff (average age of 28) lead small groups of 12 students on a series of expeditions into the rugged and beautiful landscapes of the canyons, rivers, and mountains of Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and the rain forests, beaches, and rural villages of Costa Rica. Deer Hill's 4:1 student to staff ratio provides personalized attention and instruction during two to four-week long programs which offer a variety of challenge and a progression of skill development. Activities include rafting, canoeing, kayaking, backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, Spanish language study and leadership initiatives. Essential to each group's experience is a service learning project (in most cases applicable to high school credit). Students work on cross-cultural projects with Navajo, Hopi and Zuni people in the Southwest U.S., and homestays in Costa Rica; or conservation projects with the U.S. Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management. Students have the opportunity to learn new life skills, live within another culture, and make deeper connections with their group, the Earth and themselves. Deer Hill is for young people wishing to expand their horizons through the physical and mental challenges of living in the wilderness, and making new friends in a non-competitive atmosphere of respect and fun. Deer Hill has been reviewed and is accredited by the Association for Experiential Education.
