I am often asked, "What sets our camp apart from other camps?" Well, I tell people...Wekeela is gorgeous, the campers are fantastic, our facilities are top notch, the lake has pristine waters, and there is magic at Wekeela. Yes, we have great campers-after all, the apple does not fall from the tree. Our staff is the grand equalizer. We are so privileged to have dedicated men and women return year after year to the shores of Little Bear Pond. They return because they love Wekeela, they love Maine. They return because they understand what camp is about. It's about being a role model to children. It is about being a teacher, it is about having tremendous FUN. Our staff affects, shapes, and defines our campers' summer like no other individual. Our staff understands that Wekeela is not just camp, it's a way of life."

3. Med-O-Lark Camp - Med-O-Lark Camp is a coed summer program with 300 campers from across the nation. Our program focuses on many genres of dance, theater arts, over 15 crafts courses, culinary arts, varied levels of tennis, circus arts, fine arts, waterskiing, and equestrian arts.

Med-O-Lark excels in the visual and performing arts, and offers the most extensive crafts, dance and theater courses of any youth camp in New England. Professional artists and performers commute to camp or live at camp to augment our teaching staff. All of our counselors are hired because of the skills they have in their particular area. Many of the counselors are majoring in art, dance, theater, or music, and most of them are in their junior or senior year of college. However, our waterfront program is excellent too. Campers choose and arrange their own activity schedules from the many activities offered at every skill level. Med-O-Lark also offers a dance program which is quite sophisticated. We offer 20 classes in dance each day, taught in 4 dance studios with 6 teachers, as well as an opportunity to participate in our Dance Track program.

Campers at Med-O-Lark are ages 8-16 (or going into 4th grade through going into 11th grade). Med-O-Lark differs from other camps offering non-competitive activities and allowing campers to choose their own activities. Med-O-Lark does not have a uniform nor does it engage campers in color wars, target sports or other militaristic activities.

Med-O-Lark Camp offers charter bus service from New York City, NY, Greenwich, CT, and Newton, MA and arranges group flights to and from Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta, and Washington, DC into Portland, Maine.

4. Theater for Kids at Portland Stage - The curtain is going up... on a summer filled with the excitement and magic of theater camp! Full and half day options for kids ages 5-18, instruction by professional actors and educators.

At Portland Stage Summer Theater Camp students use the creative process
to express themselves through acting, directing, production projects and collaboration with other campers. Our theater camps involve fun, challenging and enriching activities,
through which students learn to use their bodies, voices, minds and imaginations.

Each session promotes social skills such as active listening, teamwork and turn-taking
in an environment that facilitates creative expression. Using classic literature, modern favorites, adventure stories, and fairytales as springboards, children will take
imaginative journeys to faraway lands!

Our professional actors and educators lead students in theme-based explorations
that develop children’s ability to work as an ensemble, build acting skills, explore drama through acting and directing while also encouraging spontaneity and creativity.

Camps are structured to provide students
with a variety of workshops on becoming an actor, insight into the craft of acting,
developing a stage presence, working from a text, practicing improvisation,
stage combat and much more.
