The camp is located on a secluded 350-acre estate in the Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania, just outside the village of Honesdale. It’s about a 3-hour drive from NYC and Philadelphia.

QUALITY & EXPERIENCE: Camp Cayuga was purchased by Mike Buynak in 1964, who turned over the full-time directorship in 1983 to his son, Brian. The Buynaks have owned & operated summer camps since 1957 and have earned a fine reputation over 50 years for providing healthy, safe, fun-filled summers for children! Cayuga is an ACA accredited camp.

GUARANTEE TO FIRST-TIME CAMPERS: Everyone has fun at Camp Cayuga - that’s our promise to you! We specialize in first-time campers and back-up our promise with “Cayuga’s First-Time Camper Guarantee”. Our guarantee provides for a full prorated tuition refund to any first-time camper departing prior to the conclusion of his or her registered session. That's a promise!

SEPARATE TEEN CAMPUS: Cayuga’s property is divided into 2 campuses. With two separate campuses, we can provide two separate programs geared to the different age groups on each campus. Teen Campus houses campers entering 8th to 10th grade who are 13 years old (or older) before arriving at camp. Teen Campus is reserved exclusively for teenagers. Junior Campus houses campers entering 1st to 8th grade who are 13 years old or younger. Campers entering 8th grade, who are 13 years of age before arrival, have the option to reside on either campus.

CREATE YOUR OWN ACTIVITY SCHEDULE: Campers, entering 5th grade & higher, select their own activities each morning after breakfast. JUNIOR DIVISION ACTIVITY SCHEDULE: Campers, entering 4th grade & lower, participate in the Junior Activity Program. Each Junior cabin is provided with its own weekly activity schedule, which is geared to the age and gender of the cabin group. The schedule is different each day of the week! Campers travel together as a “cabin group” to activities under the direct supervision of their counselor.

ENROLLMENT INFORMATION: The camper population is limited to 390 campers. To register your child at Cayuga, you can complete the on-line camper enrollment application or the hard-copy application. Cayuga offers flexible sessions including 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks. Diversity and nonrepetition of the program are two guidelines we use in planning the summer's calendar of events. Sibling credits and "early registration" discounts are available.

OVER 60 DAILY ACTIVITIES: Cayuga offers over 60 daily activities including horseback riding (included in tuition), paintball, ATVs, skateboarding, all land and water sports, as well as scuba diving clinics, swim meets, track meets, horse shows, overnights, cookouts, and exciting trips, weekly special events, and fun evening activities.

Travel for Teens believes that teen travel should be both fun and enriching. Our programs feature choice in what you do, see, and experience, a dynamic that sets us apart from superficial tours that herd large groups from one site to another.

Travel for Teens has grown exponentially over the years, from one trip to Paris in 2003 to 35 programs covering 24 countries on 5 continents today. In Europe, Southern Africa, Costa Rica, Australia, and New Zealand, we visit the best of the mainstream attractions while offering the opportunity to explore the culture from a less ‘touristy’ perspective. We interact with our host cultures, taking cooking and dance lessons, performing valuable service work to help local communities, and conversing with the people who have spent their lives living in the places we journey to.

We have crafted our unique programs to engender love for travel, hunger for learning, curiosity about differences, appreciation of similarities across cultures, and an understanding of what it means to be a global citizen. We look forward to traveling with you!

Camp Choconut For Boys 9-15
Building Confidence and Self-Reliance
Through Woodland Activities Since 1896

Camp Choconut's pristine private lake and miles of Pennsylvania forest provide the setting for a boy's camp with limited enrollment. Boys get lots of individual attention while learning that they CAN do things for themselves that they may not have imagined before.

Camp Choconut offers a safe place for boys to explore in a clean, natural setting under the supervision of counselors who are carefully chosen as good role models. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and fun community based on cooperation, simplicity, and responsibility. Our overnight camp or sleep-away camp allows for the boys to experience living away from home in a safe and friendly environment.

The bell in the center of camp marks our day. It wakes us up, calls us to meals, and marks the time. It can be heard as it echoes across the lake and deep into the woods.

When it rings continuously, it’s known as The Assembly Bell, and campers come running. This rule keeps us ready in the event of an emergency, but usually just signals the start of a Big Game.

We have two "details" every morning, mandatory periods where the boys learn archery, knife, hatchet and map reading skills, make things in the wood shop, work on group construction projects, and gardening.
That is followed by a compulsory swim where we work on building skills so they can pass the Lake Test, a 1/4-mile swim.

After drying off, it is time for milkshakes, which is followed by Jury, where the boys meet together with the Director to solve and discuss camp issues as a group.

Then it is lunch, rest period and free time. Counselors announce where they will be and the boys are welcome to choose their activity or make their own. Either way they are supported in an activity they want to do.

Then it is dinner, where cereal is always available (an old camp tradition), followed by the evening game and bed.

This routine is punctuated by special events – bonfires, campouts, hikes, evening swims, stargazing during meteor showers and trips.

We take the boys on a clear night to our fields to look at the heavens through, to a dry creek bed littered with fossils they can collect, and to a magical land of waterfalls, they can play in and sit under.

Then there are the Big Games. The Flour Bomb Wars have two teams of boys armed with paper lunch bags filled with baking flour. They must attack and defend a cabin simultaneously.

The most anticipated of the Big Games is the Villa Hunt. It’s origins date back to World War One. Pancho Villa and his Raiding Party are secretly chosen and spend weeks preparing to raid the camp. When the whole camp is together, they run shouting through the assembly, then disappear into the woods. The boys and counselors break into teams and scramble to get their things together for a three-day game of hide-and-seek over a square mile of woods, fields and streams.

Our program is designed to help boys rise above their limitations and learn self-respect. They do their best to meet expectations not from threat of punishment, but from a sense of responsibility to others. They have so much fun; they don’t realize they’re growing.

Our 50+ senior staff members are adult professionals who assume supervisory responsibilities in camp and at least 90% return every summer. Our in-cabin counselors are college-enrolled staff members who return at a rate better than 50%. Ninety percent of our staff are Americans who are recruited across the United States for their skills, experience and ability to work with children. We also offer a special Show Camper program for experienced riders aged 12 to 16. Qualified campers are assigned a specific show horse and travel to A-rated horse shows while they attend camp. Riding internships are also available for qualified girls who have completed 11th grade. Show Camper programs are offered in English Hunt Seat and Western Saddle.

We also have Mother-Daughter session for girls aged 6 to 9. Our mother-daughter session is the perfect way to introduce your daughter to sleepaway camp. Each family has two bedrooms connected with a private bathroom.

Allegheny Riding Camp features beautiful facilities in the mountains of Central Pennsylvania, about 30 minutes from Penn State University. We have dormitory housing, three riding paddocks, large indoor riding arena, stables for up to 65 horses, a 25-yard swimming pool, gymnasium, athletic field, air-conditioned dance studio and 350 acres of forest.

We maintain an excellent staff ratio (1:4 or better) in the dormitory and during lessons. We accommodate less than 100 campers at a time, creating a family-like atmosphere with plenty of individual attention.

The mission of Allegheny Riding Camp is to teach girls to realize their potential through horsemanship, friendship, and respect for animals.

Allegheny Riding Camp is the perfect summer home for girls who love horses!
