San Diego Junior Theatre is the oldest youth theater in the United States. We offer multiple day camps throughout the summer at Balboa Park, as well as in La Jolla and Chula Vista.
Week long summer programs for students with learning disabilities and related difficulties such as dyslexia, auditory processing, visual processing, ADHD, autism, and other learning differences. Specializing in the Orton-Gillingham approach. Locations throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and the Inland Empire.
Musicians 9-14 years old: play with others in ensembles, learn to play percussion instruments and sing. Campers will perform in concert at the end of the week.
We offer opportunities to engage creatively with professional artists and fellow students through expressive language, deep acting process, active investigation of historic context, and public performance of Shakespeare's plays.
We ask our students to set aside limits: to be courageous and open to surprise as they immerse themselves in the immediacy and power of Shakespeare’s plays. Conservatory students spend the morning studying acting, physical comedy, stage combat, and more; afternoons are for rehearsals, to create a fully-realized, specially-adapted public performance of a Shakespeare play on the final day of the conservatory session.
