During the summer Western Michigan University offers a wide variety of camps geared toward students of all ages. Our camps range from academic to sports, with a little bit of everything in between. Camps vary in cost based on requirements.
Virtual College Prep Camp
You can choose from over 50 week-long STEM programs that explore careers, participate in activities that may not be available in school, and experience a mini-version of college life. Explore through laboratory, classroom, and field experiences.
MiBytes is a computer camp offered by the University of Michigan and taught by Computer Science and Engineering faculty. Four programs are offered with engaging, hand-on projects to teach students a variety of computer science topics.
Located at the northern tip of Lower Michigan. Walden's pristine 90 acres includes expansive lakefront on Long Lake. Since 1959, Walden campers have been making new friends, acquiring new skills, and most of all learning about themselves.
Retreats at Camp Arcadia have been called "a cruise beside the lake" because of the array of activities offered daily. Weekly programs vary and are tailored to our guests’ needs and interests. But, regardless of the program, each week features a single or pair of "deans" who act as spiritual leaders for the week, offering daily Bible study and table prayers. This unique facet has been a tradition since Camp opened its doors in the summer of 1923.
Camp Linden is where girls make friends, gain practical life skills, develop critical thinking skills & practice team building through nature exploration, horseback riding, outdoor adventure, water sports, fine arts, travel & leadership.
Paradise Ranch Summer Horse Camps are for kids ages 8-17 to have fun, learn quality horsemanship, and about their walk with Jesus Christ. Campers learn to groom, tack, and ride a horse, work with cattle, and play ranch games.
Camp Wathana, established in 1926, is operated by Camp Fire USA Southeast Michigan Council. Located on 250 acres, the site includes two lakes, rolling hills, woods, fields and wetlands. Camp Wathana offers a fun, safe, well-rounded summer camp program. Accredited by the American Camping Association.

Located 30 Minutes West of Traverse City
Black River Farm and Ranch has been an girls horseback riding summer camp since 1962. Girls come to the BR for a worry-free summer experience. Black River caters to a wide variety of interests by offering a traditional camp program in addition to its excellent horseback riding program. Stay 3 nights to 4 weeks you can choose the session that is right for you. BR is ACA accredited.
St. Francis Camp on the Lake serves children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Your child's confidence grows and they have fun while creating life-long relationships. Trained staff guide campers in traditional camp activities. Teens build character through unique staff and peer interactions. Transportation is available from Muskegon, MI and Oak Park, IL.
